Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

In the city of Firenze, a entertainer readies his blade as he defends himself from thieves. His actions are graceful and methodical, perfectly planned in the great stage known as life.

A Thespian of the Grand Stage is an actor who recognizes the art of war, honing their abilities in both combat and performance. Their way of fighting reflects this, appearing as if it was planned by fate itself as part of Life's script. The Thespian's innate power is drawn from the Masked Fool, wearer of the Anguished Mask. His play-script gifts Words of Fate to talented actors, allowing them to bend fate to their will, to their 'own script'.

Bonus Proficiency

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Performance skill. Additionally, your proficiency bonus is doubled when rolling Performance.

Words of Fate

A gift from the Masked Fool, Words of Fate allow Thespians to change the world's script, giving them the edge in battle.

Starting at 3rd Level, you have three Words of Fate that you may expend, only once per turn. All Words of Fate are recovered after a long rest. Your Words of Fate options are:

  • Encore - Expend a Word of Fate as a bonus action to grant a willing creature an additional action on their next turn.
  • Exit Stage Right - Expend a Word of Fate to double your speed and prevent opportunity attacks on yourself until your next turn.
  • Bravo! - Expend a Word of Fate to gain Advantage on any Charisma based rolls for 1 minute.

Your number of Fates increases with each further feat.

The Show Must Go On

When a problem arises during a play, the actors don't stop. They continue their performance until the very end. Thespians follow the same principle in combat, able to push on despite heavy injuries.

Starting at 3rd level, when you reach 0 hit points, you may use this feature to remain conscious at 1 hit point. This feature may only be used once per long rest.

Showstopper

In combat, Thespians use their skills as actors to end conflict as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Starting at 7th, whenever you land a finishing blow on a creature, you regain your Attack action, able to attack another creature on the same turn.

When gaining this feature, your number of Words of Fates increases to 4.

Master Actor

As an actor moves on from being an amateur, they learn new techniques to improve their art. With Thespians, they learn for both their performance on the stage and on the battlefield.

Starting at 10th Level, you are granted three new Words of Fate features:

  • Chewing the Scenery -

As a bonus action on your turn, you may expend a Word of Fate to use this feature. All hostile creatures that can see and hear you must make a Wisdom Saving Throw against a DC equal to 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Charisma modifier. On a failed save, the creature is inflicted with a Lure effect for three turns, or until they use an action to remake the saving throw.

While affected with Lure, the creature can only target the Thespain who used this feature. Additionally, any attack rolls or saving throws made gain a -1 penalty until the effect is ended.

  • Perfect Choreography - When making an Attack, expend a Word of Fate to gain Advantage on a single attack roll. Additionally, this second roll gains a +3 bonus.
  • Goading Retort - As a reaction to a missed attack, you may expend a Word of Fate to deal 3d10 Psychic damage to your attacker.

When gaining this feature, your number of Words of Fates increases to 5.

Reprise

During a musical, songs and motifs come back, almost always with greater force due to their previous performance. Thespians use this tactic in their everyday life and in combat, practicing early in the morning so their second try has a greater result.

Starting at 15th Level, at the end of every long rest, roll three d20s and write down each result. Whenever you roll a d20 after this, you may substitute the the roll with one of your three Reprise results, discarding the die afterwards. This decision must be made before you know the outcome of your roll.

When gaining this feature, your number of Words of Fates increases to 6.

Curtain Call

At the end of the play, all the actors appear on the stage, giving a final bow before exiting. At this point, everything and everyone is shown. At the end of a Thespian's journey, they too show everything they have to offer, displaying their performance skills and combat prowess.

Starting at 18th Level, whenever you use the Show Must Go On feature, you may expend a Word of Fate to comeback with more health than usual. The additional health is equal to your total level + your Proficiency Bonus.

Whenever you roll initiative before combat, and your number of Words of Fates is 0, you may roll recover 1d4 Words of Fate.

When gaining this feature, your number of Words of Fates increases to 7.
