Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Veilwalkers are tabaxi who have trained to become champions of Selûne, the Moonmaiden. Chosen at a young age, a Veilwalker prodigy is whisked away in secret from the rest of their clan and taught to wear darkness as armour and channel moonlight as a weapon.

Restriction: Tabaxi Only

Only tabaxi can choose the Veilwalker Roguish Archetype. In the world of Faerûn, tabaxi closely guard the secrets of the veil and train very few aspirants.

Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign. The restriction reflects the story of veilwalkers in the Forgotten Realms, but it might not apply to your DM’s setting or your DM’s version of the Realms.

Armour of Darkness

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level you have learned the ability to wear shadow like a second skin. While in dim light or darkness you gain advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.

Additionally as a reaction you can command shadow to protect you - when a creature successfully performs an Attack against you, you may use your reaction to add your Charisma modifier to your AC against that attack. You can do this a number of times up to your Charisma modifier per short or long rest.

Shadow Clone

At 9th level, you are able to shape darkness around you as though it were clay. While in dim light or darkness, you can use your action to become invisible. You remain invisible until you make an attack, cast a spell, or are in an area of bright light.

Additionally when you use the dash action (including as a bonus action) you can choose to leave behind a shadowy copy of yourself. If you do this in dim light or darkness you seem to disappear, and creatures that can see you must pass a Wisdom (Perception) check opposed by your Charisma (Deception) or you are considered hidden from them until the end of your turn. Creatures that have Blindsight or Truesight are immune to this effect.

Your Shadow Clone is considered an ally and lasts until the start of your next turn. It has an AC of 18, 1 hit point, and if required to perform a skill check or saving throw they may add your Charisma modifier to their roll. The Shadow clone is immune to damage from non-magical bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing weapons. It is also immune to all conditions.

Tenebrous Allies

At 13th level, the shadows acquiesce to your commands. Whenever you create a Shadow Clone it may immediately move up to your walking speed and perform an weapon attack using a copy of a weapon you currently hold,  it uses your Charisma modifier for the attack and damage rolls.

This attack does not gain the benefits of sneak attack or any other Rogue abilities, it is considered a basic weapon attack.

Master of Night

At 17th level, you are a walking champion of the Moonmaiden. When you use the dash action that creates a Shadow Clone, you may also create a second Shadow Clone anywhere along your movement path. Both clones are able to make an attack as per the Tenebrous Allies rules.

Additionally, as a reaction you may immediately switch places with any Shadow Clone.
