Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Tremoring Earth channel ki energy directly from the land and ground, shaping the earth to their will. They train in techniques allowing them to increase their fortitude to that of a mountain, as well as strike their foes like a rolling earthquake, the will and determination of these monks is as unyielding as the harsh element in which they draw their energy from. These monks endure many hardships in their training to become the ultimate bulwark of the mountain.

Mountain's Endurance

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level you gain the ability to bolster your defense as if you were a mountain, as a bonus action, you can spend 2 ki points to gain a +1 to your AC, lasting one minute in duration. You can expend extra ki points to increase your AC further, up to a maximum of +5.

Tremor Strike

Also starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to exert the earths energy into your foes, when using your Flurry of Blows feature, you may expend an additional ki point to impose the following effects on the target. You may do this once per turn.

  • The target must succeed a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
  • The target must succeed a Constitution saving throw or take an extra 1d6 bludgeoning damage.

Bulwark of Stone

At 6th level, you gain the ability to guard your allies from harm, and detect threats by sensing the vibrations in the ground. When an allied creature within 5ft of you takes damage from an attack, as a reaction, you can intercept the attack, protecting the attacks target, and taking the damage yourself, the damage you take is halved as if you were resistant.

As well as this, you gain tremorsense in a 30ft radius.

Engulfing Earth

At 11th level you can impose the elemental force of the earth onto your opponents. Whenever you perform a successful stunning strike on a creature, you may channel the lands ki into the target, allowing you to petrify the creature rather than stunning them. This effect lasts until the creature makes a successful constitution saving throw on the end of their turn. You may use this feature up to two times per short or long rest.

Tectonic Soul

At 17th level, your mastery of the earth allows you to channel the elemental energy of the land to quake the battlefield. As an action, you can plant your hands to the ground and exert your tremoring spirit to bend the earth to your will, you may expend 3 ki points to cause one of the following effects:

  • You send out pulsing tremors to shake the ground around you, all creatures in a 30ft radius of you must succeed a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone, taking 1d8 bludgeoning damage.
  • A rupture of quaking stone launches from the ground in front of you, travelling 60ft forwards, and measuring 15ft wide, all creatures caught in the attack must succeed a Dexterity saving throw or take 3d10 bludgeoning damage.
  • Choose up to three creatures within 15ft of you, you may cause the ground to exert upwards, petrifying the targets on a failed Constitution saving throw, or granting a +2 bonus to AC if the target is an ally.
