Bard
Base Class: Bard

Prop Comedy is a comedy genre in which performers use humorous objects, or conventional objects in humorous ways. The stages and films term "prop", an abbreviation of "property", refers to any object an actor handles in the course of a performance. Props are any items that the comedian or comic uses in an absurd way. These can be hand props, such as a book or items, costume props (such as tearaway pants), and set props (such as a breakaway chair). The Prop Comic has dedicated their life to entertain the masses with slapstick and nonsense, and a lot of puns.

Heavily based off the Prop comedian, Gallagher and other influences like Carrot Top, Fozzy Bear, and the Groaner. This type of bard entertains not so much with music, but with puns and physically Comedy. The key part of this build is a very large hammer and a sense of humor. This sub-class plays very similar to the Collage of Swords bard, but more STR based. With a mix of martial and magic abilities, these bards are great at causing distractions, supporting from the front line, and really lighten the mood of even the most dire situations.

SLEDGE-O-MATIC

At 3rd level, you learn to conduct impressive displays of power and dexterity while also preforming an entire Comedic Routine.

Whenever you take the Attack action on your turn with a Warhammer, you ignore difficult terrain and becoming prone, other creatures have disadvantage on opportunity attack rolls against you, and if a weapon attack that you make as part of this action hits a creature, you can use one of the following SLEDGE-O-MATIC options of your choice. You can use only one SLEDGE-O-MATIC option per turn. To keep the joke from getting stale, you may not use the same SLEDGE-O-MATIC option until a different one has been used. Any spells used as part of a SLEDGE-O-MATIC ability does not have to be already known.

Saving Throws. Some of your SLEDGE-O-MATIC options require your target to make a saving throw to resist the effects. The saving throw DC is calculated as follows:

SLEDGE-O-MATIC save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Charisma modifier (your choice)

Bash and Banter. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target you hit. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die. Immediately after you hit a creature with a melee Warhammer attack as a part of the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to cast Vicious Mockery as a Bonus Action.

.Subsidiary of Fly-By-Night Industries. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target you hit. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die.  After you hit a creature with a melee Warhammer attack as a part of the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to take the Use an Object action. (If the object has a DC, you may use the SLEGE-O-MATIC DC instead.)

Splatter Disaster . You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target you hit and to any other creature of your choice that you can see within 5 feet of you. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die. Immediately after you hit a creature with a melee Warhammer attack as a part of the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to cast Grease centered on one of the damaged creature that last until the end of your next turn.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Prop Comedy at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, improvised weapons, and the Warhammer.

You also gain a Burglar Pack and proficiency in Tinker's Tools.

If you’re using a Warhammer, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells.

Fighting Style

At 3rd level, you adopt a particular style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can't take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again.

  • Dueling. When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
  • Great Weapon Fighting. When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for an attack you make with a melee weapon that you are wielding with two hands, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or a 2. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.

Extra Attack, Positive Review

Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Positive Review

When you use a SLEDGE-O-MATIC feature, you can use your Bardic Inspiration feature as part of the same bonus action you use for any SLEDGE-O-MATIC option without expending any additional Bardic Inspiration.

Show Stopper

At 14th level, your "Comedy" on the battlefield can supernaturally entertain your allies and disgust your enemies. Whenever you score a critical hit or reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you can choose one or more creatures that you can see within 20 feet of you, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one creature). All the chosen creatures are affected by one of the following effects of your choice.

  • The creature gains temporary hit points equal to Bardic Inspiration + your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1 temporary hit point).
  • The creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be frightened of you until the start of your next turn.

All creatures effected by this are now entertained or disgusted, also giving them a Bardic Inspiration Die without expending any of your Bardic Inspiration. This die must be used on their next roll. If it is giving to an enemy, the Bardic Inspiration Die is reduced from their next roll. The roll must be made before the end of your next turn or the Bardic Inspiration Die is lost.

Once you use this feature you can't use it again until the start of your next turn.
