Base Class: Wizard
Arcane Brutes master a tradition of wizardry that incorporates very little intricate magic. Instead, the Arcane Brute harnesses a barbaric form of magic. The Arcane Brute masters physical magic, that enhances their body to become as tough as their martial peers, at the cost of more fine magic manipulation.
In combat, an Arcane Brute will punch you until you're out, and only cast spells when it either enhances their fist or will do more than their fist could. It's not uncommon to see them raging or without their spellbook.
Magical Combatant
At 2nd level, you learn to concentrate your flow of magic into your unarmed attacks while fighting.
You gain the following benefits while you are unarmed or wielding only a spellcasting focus.
- You can use Intelligence instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes.
- You can roll a d4 in place of the normal damage of your unarmed strike. This die changes as you gain wizard levels, becoming 1d6 at 6th level and a 1d8 at 12th.
- Your unarmed strikes qualify as a valid spellcasting requirement as melee weapons that cost at least 1 silver piece.
Arcane Rage
Starting at 2nd level, you fight with arcane ferocity. On your turn, you can enter an Arcane Rage as a bonus action.
While raging, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain advantage on saving throws against magical spells
- When you cast a spell, you gain temporary hit points equal to double the spells level (2 temporary hit points for a cantrip). These temporary hit points stack.
- You have resistance to fire, lightning, and force damage.
Your rage lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven’t cast a damaging spell since your last turn or taken damage since then. You can also end your rage on your turn as a bonus action.
Once you have raged, you must finish a long rest before you can rage again.
Enhanced Mage Armor
Starting at 6th level, you become a master of the spell Mage Armor. You can cast the spell Mage Armor at will. When it is cast in this way, the effect below is instead used.
Your base AC becomes 14 + your Strength modifier. The spell ends if the target dons armor or if you dismiss the spell as an action.
Arcane Overflow
Beginning at 10th level, the magic you channel is constantly leaking and bursting around you. When you cast a spell, all creatures of your choice within 5 feet of you, take a number of d4 force damage equal to the spells level (1 for a cantrip.)
Magical Body
At 14th level, your body has become magically toughened. Your hit point maximum increases by 28, and your hit point maximum increases by an additional 2 hit points each time you level up in this class.
