Base Class: Monk
A speedster has tapped into a mysterious power that has granted them incredible speed, allowing them to move faster than the eye can follow.
(*You are encouraged to take the Quickened Healing optional class feature to represent a speedster's healing factor.)
Author's Note: This subclass is part of a series intended to replicate different superhero archetypes (all labeled "hero class"). These are my first attempts at homebrewing subclasses, so constructive feedback is much appreciated.
Superior Reflexes
3rd-level Speedster feature
You can perceive and react to danger faster than the blink of an eye. You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Wisdom modifier.
Blinding Speed
3rd-level Speedster feature
You are capable of moving at incredible speeds when you need to. The dash action gives you extra movement equal to twice your speed, after applying any modifiers, rather than the usual amount.
This also applies to the dash action granted by your Step of the Wind feature or any other feature.
Speed Vortex
6th-level Speedster feature
You have learned to move your body at such high speeds that you can manipulate the winds around you.
- You learn the gust cantrip.
- As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast the gust of wind spell.
Molecular Vibration
11th-level Speedster feature
You are able to vibrate your molecules at such speeds that you can pass through solid objects. When you use your Step of the Wind feature, you can also move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain until the end of your turn. If you end your turn inside a creature or an object, you take 1d10 force damage and are shunted to the last unoccupied space you occupied.
Faster than Light
17th-level Speedster feature
In a burst of energy you can accelerate to the point that time seems to slow down around you. Once per long rest as an action, you can spend 5 ki points to cast the time stop spell. You ignore the distance limitation of the spell when cast this way.
