Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

The average mortal  believes that the realms of the cosmic and the material are completely separated from one another, with the notion of death as the only bridge. The Artificer knows quite well that, not only do these realms overlap each other, they can merge into very useful tools.

----Stolas, Prince of Hell

From the teachings of the Goetic Prince Stolas, the Lapidarist is an expert in infusing precious gemstones with fragments of magical power from the various planes of existence. The true strength of these infusions surfaces when said gemstones are embedded within nonmagical items.

Tool Proficiency

3rd-level Lapidarist feature

You gain proficiency with jeweler's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

Lapidarist Spells

3rd-level Lapidarist feature

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Lapidarist Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Gem Infusion

3rd-level Lapidarist feature

The Embedded Gem infusion is added to the list of infusions you can learn. It may be learned up to three times, and each time you learn it, you must choose either weapons, suits of armor, or jewelry.

Embedded Gem

Item: A gemstone worth at least 50 gp and either a nonmagical weapon, suit of armor, or piece of jewelry

When you finish a long rest, you may choose a qualifying gemstone from the Embedded Gem table. If you have access to a set of jeweler's tools then you may embed this gemstone into a weapon, set of armor, or piece of jewelry as an infused item, provided that the item was nonmagical. That item gains a benefit as described in the Embedded Gem table. If you choose jewelry, then the cantrips use your spellcasting ability modifier.

During a long rest, you may detach the gemstone and transfer it to a new item, or you may transfer the infusion to a new gemstone entirely and embed the new gem into an item.

Bejeweled Casting

5th-level Lapidarist feature

Your ability to infuse magic is almost as flawless as the gems you cut. Whenever someone deals damage using a weapon or piece of jewelry with your Embedded Gem infusion, they may add a bonus to one of the damage rolls equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1). The gemstone used for the infused item must be worth at least 100 gp.

Precious Trinkets

9th-level Lapidarist feature

You master how to use your artificer infusions to specially modify your party's equipment. The maximum number of items you can infuse at once increases by 2, but those extra items must be infused with your Embedded Gem infusion.

Goetic Gem

15th-level Lapidarist feature

Your ability to enchant gemstones rivals even those of a Goetic Prince. Your items with the Embedded Gem infusion gain additional benefits as described below, but the gemstone used must be worth at least 500 gp.

• Weapon: The weapon deals an additional 1d6 of the gem's damage type.

• Armor: If the wearer takes damage of the gem's type, they may use their reaction to absorb some of the damage and deal an additional 1d6 damage of that type on their next melee attack. This ability can only be applied once per turn.

• Jewelry: The casting time of the cantrip becomes one bonus action instead of one action.
