Monk
Base Class: Monk

A fate bending themed subclass

Focused Fate

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. You learn the guidance and resistance cantrips if you don’t already know them. These can be cast without expending Ki points. You also learn additional spells which you gain at the monk level noted in the table, and can cast as an action by spending the required Ki.

You can spend additional ki points to increase the level of a focused fate spell which you cast, provided that the spell has an enhanced effect at a higher level, as bless does. The spell’s level increases by 1 for each additional ki point you spend. For example, if you are a 3rd-level monk and use this ability to cast bless, you can spend 2 ki points to cast it as a 2nd-level spell (the discipline’s base cost of 1 ki points plus 1).

The maximum number of ki points you can spend to cast a spell in this way (including its base ki point cost and any additional ki points you spend to increase its level) is determined by your monk level, as shown in the Spells and Ki Points table.

Skew the Odds

Beginning at 6th level, as a reaction to seeing a creature make an attack roll or ability check with advantage or disadvantage, you can expend a use of this feature and force the creature to roll one additional die. They take the highest of the rolls for advantage, and lowest of the rolls for disadvantage as normal. You can use this ability once per short rest unless you expend 2 Ki to use it again.

Exchanging Fate

When you finish a long rest, roll one die and record the result. As a reaction when a creature you can see within 30 feet makes an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check, you can swap this fate roll for what the target rolled, storing their number as your new fate roll. Using this feature again costs 2 Ki, and you lose the stored fate roll when you complete a long rest.

Experienced Manipulation

At 17th level, when you roll for initiative your free use of Skew the Odds and Exchanging Fate abilities reset. In addition, if you use your reaction to use your Skew the Odds feature, then you can use the same reaction to use Exchanging Fate, although you must pay the cost for both abilities as normal.
