Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Storm Fist learn to channel their energy into raging bolts of lightning. They teach that meditation and training can grant one the ability to harness the power of the sky to smite their enemies. A monk of the Storm Fist strikes their foes with deadly precision weather they be close by or far away.

Raging Bolt

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can send out brilliant bolts of magical lightning.

You gain a new attack option that you can use with the Attack action. This special attack is a ranged spell attack with a range of 30 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Dexterity modifier to its attack and damage rolls. Its damage is lightning, and its damage die is a d4. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table.

When you take the Attack action on your turn and use this special attack as part of it, you can spend 1 ki point to make the special attack twice as a bonus action.

When you gain the Extra Attack feature, this special attack can be used for any of the attacks you make as part of the Attack action.

Arcing Lightning Strike

At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel your ki into arching bolts of energy. Immediately after you take the Attack action on your turn, you can spend 2 ki points to send out an arching bolt of lightning as a bonus action. Choose an enemy within 15 ft. of you that you can see. That target and any enemy creatures within 20 ft. of it must make a dexterity saving throw or take 3d6 lightning damage on a failed save, half as much on a successful one as the lightning archs between them.

You can spend additional ki points to increase the damage the lightning deals. Each additional ki point you spend increases the damage by 1d6. The maximum number of ki points (2 plus any additional points) that you can spend equals half your monk level.

Overwhelming Bolt

At 11th level, you gain the ability to create a large bolt of lightning that you can hurl at a single target. As an action, you magically create a bolt and hurl it at a target you choose within 150 feet. You are proficient with this ability and it uses your Wisdom modifier on its attack and damage rolls.

You make a ranged spell attack against a target and deal 3d10 + your wisdom modifier Lightning damage on a successful hit. Additionally a target hit by this ability is stunned until the end of your next turn.

You can increase the damage dealt by this lightning by spending ki points (1ki point = 1d10) up to a maximum of 3.

Storm Ward

At 17th level, you become wreathed in an erratic, magical storm. You gain advantage on dexterity checks and saves and immunity to the stunned. You can extinguish or restore the storm as a bonus action.

If a creature hits you with a melee or ranged attack while this storm rages, you can use your reaction to deal lightning damage to the creature by sending out a bolt of lightning. The lightning damage equals 5 + your Wisdom modifier.
