Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

While all barbarians live a rugged, hard life, some tribes have it even worse. Harsh conditions and endless strife changes the members of these tribes into something stronger as they endure the brutal conditions of their environment, the attacks of their enemies and everything they have to do to survive.

Barbarians from these tribes learn to endure intense pain and how to inflict it onto their enemies. Their bodies may be covered in various scars from ruthless battles and brutal living conditions that remind them of the pain endured.

Reckless Endurance

Starting when you choose this subclass at 3rd level, you gain the ability to withstand intense pain. When you are raging you may choose to endure. While you are enduring, you tale a neutral fighting stance, lowering all your defenses, dropping your AC to 1.

When a creature hits you and deals damage to you with an attack or spell, you gain 1 Pain dice. The amount of Pain dice you may gain is equal to your Constitution modifier. You may also gain a pain dice by choosing to fail Saving Throws you have to make from being the target of a spell.

When you make the Attack action, you can declare a number of Pain dice to spend on your attack. If the attack hits, you deal the number of dice declared as extra damage on the attack roll it was declared for.

Any pain dice you acquire and have not used are lost at the end of combat.

Your Pain dice is a 1d6 and is increased at levels 6 (d8), 10 (d10) and 14 (d12).

Share the Burden

Beginning at 6th level, you aid creatures you can see within 60 feet in shouldering the burden of their own pain.

As a reaction you may expend a pain die to reduce the damage a creature you can see takes from another creature’s attack action. Toll one pain die. The damage adverted is the result plus your constitution modifier. You take this damage instead.

Taunting Shout

Beginning at 10th level, you can use your bonus action to harness the anger within you caused by your pain. While raging, you can expend a Pain dice to draw the attention of your enemies.

Creatures you choose that can see or hear you in a 60 foot radius roll a Wisdom saving throw. The DC for this saving throw is 8 + your Strength ability modifier + your Proficiency bonus. On a failed save, when those creatures attack creatures other than you, they do so at disadvantage. Additionally, they spend their movement on their turn to move towards you. This effect lasts 1 turn.

On subsequent turns, you can use your bonus action to extend the duration of this effect by expending another Pain die. This effect ends if the creature ends its turn out of line of sight or more than 60 feet away from you.

If the creature succeeds on its saving throw, you can’t use this feature on that creature again for 24 hours.

Master of Pain

Starting at 14th level, when you deal damage to a creature using your Painful Strike, you inflict this damage in the most painful way possible.

Rather than using the damage type that your weapon normally does, any attack made with a painful strike does Pain damage instead.
