Base Class: Blood Hunter
As an Order of the Reaper blood hunter, you mercilessly slay your enemies, using their souls to gain the power to continue fighting.
Soul Steal
When you join this order at 3rd level, you gain the ability to manipulate the souls of the dead. When a creature drops to 0 hit points within 10 feet of you, you may use either your reaction or your bonus action to absorb its soul. When you absorb the soul, you may gain one of the following effects of your choice:
- You gain temporary hit points equal to the creature’s hit point maximum / 5
- You regain one use of your blood maledict feature
- You increase your armor class by your intelligence modifier
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all uses of this feature when you take a short or long rest. The effects of this ability fade on a short or long rest.
The souls of the creatures are available for one round (6 seconds) after their death
Ethereal Adept
At 3rd level, you learn how to commune with the spirits of the deceased. You gain the ability to cast speak with dead at will.
Reaping Art
At 7th level, you begin to hone your soul-reaping abilities. You may choose one of the following options:
- Ranged Reaper - Your soul steal range increases to 60ft.
- Regenerative Soul - You may add your proficiency bonus to the temporary hit points gained by your soul steal feature
- Studied Steal - You gain an additional use of your soul steal feature
Ranged Reaper
When you choose this option at 7th level, your soul steal range increases to 60ft.
Regenerative Soul
When you choose this reaping art at 7th level, you may add your proficiency bonus to the temporary hit points gained by using your soul steal feature.
Studious Steal
When you learn this reaping art at 7th level, you gain an extra use of your soul steal feature.
Soul Storage
When you reach 11th level, you gain the ability to bind the souls of the dead to you for a short amount of time. When a creature drops to 0 hit points within 10 feet of you, you may use a reaction to expend a use of your soul steal feature to store the creature soul. You may then expend another use of your soul steal feature to immediately consume the soul. You may store 1 soul at a time. This number increases to 2 at 15th level, and 3 at 17th level.
When you finish a short or long rest with at least 1 soul stored, you must make an intelligence check with a dc of 16+the number of souls you have stored. If you fail, you lose all the souls you have stored. On a success, the souls stay with you.
Blood Curse of the Judge
At 15th level, you hone your hemocraft to mark the unjust for death. You gain the Blood Curse of the Judge for your Blood Maledict feature. This doesn’t count against your number of blood curses known.
Soul Exchange
Upon reaching 18th level, you learn to use the power of the souls of the deceased to alter fate.
When you take damage that would bring you to 0 hit points, you may expend one of your stored souls to be lowered to 1 hit point instead.
When you roll an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, you may expend one of your stored souls to roll it again, taking the higher number. This happens after the die is rolled, but before the dm determines if it succeeds or fails.
You may expend 3 uses of your soul steal to use a sentient creature’s soul to attempt to resurrect a creature who has died within the past hour. The resurrected creature must make a wisdom check against the creature whose soul is being used to resurrect. Whichever creature rolls higher is resurrected in the body of the attempted resurrectee.
