Base Class: Bard
Dragons inspire some of the greatest creative arts - epic poems, songs of valor and glory - and are a frequent topic of myth, lore and discovery. Followers of the College of Dragons study the entire species, chromatic and metallic, as well as learning the habits and etiquette specific to each species. As they advance in their study of dragon lore, most participate in secret rituals and experiments to immerse themselves in what it is to be a dragon, thickening scales of their skin and imbibing dragon blood to fuel transformation.
Student of Draconic Topics
At 3rd level you learn to speak, read and write Draconic, if you do not already. If you already know this language, you gain an Intelligence-based proficiency of your choice.
When dealing with subjects of Dragon-related lore, you may apply double your proficiency bonus for an intelligence check. For example, you may double your History proficiency when attempting to recall the name of a specific ancient dragon in a particular region, or you may double your proficiency bonus in Nature to remember the favorite food and hunting ground of a specific dragon type.
Elemental Affinity
Starting at 3rd level, when you cast a spell that deals acid, cold, fire, lightning or poison damage, add your Charisma modifier to that damage. At the same time, you can spend 1 inspiration die to gain resistance to that damage type for 10 minutes. If you already naturally resistant to the damage type due to a racial or class feature (not gained through a spell or magical item), you gain damage immunity for 10 minutes.
Scale Hardening Rite
At 6th level, you undergo the first of many experiments and rituals, you have hardened your skin to thicken or form scales. You gain a natural armor class bonus equal to your proficiency modifier when unarmored. You retain your dexterity bonus and may still use a shield if you are proficient in its use.
Draconic Form
At 14th level, you have undergone a ritual to become infused with draconic power - effectively becoming a half-dragon (Monster Manual p.180). Choose a specific dragon-type, you gain resistance to that dragon's energy, and a matching breath weapon of that dragon type. You can use the breath weapon as an action a number of times equal to your constitution modifier per short rest (minimum 1), dealing 5d8 damage in a 30' line or 15' cone. Targets in the area effect of your breath weapon may make a Dexterity saving throw for half damage, the save for your breath weapon is your bard spell save DC.
On a long rest you can conduct a rite to change into another half-dragon type, but must have access to a freshly killed dragon of the desired type, or magically preserved portions (DM's discretion, equivalent to an uncommon or rare magical item for cost and/or availability) to use in the rite. You lose the abilities of the previous dragon-type when you assume a new one.
