Base Class: Sorcerer

An Astrologer is a sorcerer born beneath a specific sign which confers unique talents and increased abilities pertaining to its specific characteristics. Typically sorcerer's born within these circumstances have deep ties to their birth sign that can quickly become apparent even in infancy. Throughout their life, they are drawn to pursue this connection sometimes even beyond their own understanding or intention. In certain cultures, this is seen as a sign of impending greatness and astral majesty while in others it can be viewed as a curse. This varies based on the location of birth and much more importantly, the sign under which they were born.

Child of the Stars

Depending on the selected birth sign you will gain one additional language as well as an affinity. This affinity will affect your class features further as you level.

Auros the Astral Father: Knowledge of the Celestial language. Affinity for Light (Paladin Spell List)

Lyria the Artist: Knowledge of the Gardenian language. Affinity for Illusion.

Balitath the Creator: Knowledge of the Druidic language. Affinity for Enchantment.

Phara the Matron of Elements: Knowledge of the Primordial language. Affinity for Conjuration.

Cara the Flamebringer: Knowledge of the Draconic language. Affinity for Evocation. 

Esemer the Spectral Walker: Knowledge of the language of the Mists. Affinity for Abjuration.

Aralan of the Cinders: Knowledge of one additional standard or exotic language. Affinity for Divination

Beronin the Lion-Hearted: Knowledge of one additional standard language (Dwarvish, Elvish, Giant, Gnomish, Goblin, Halfing, Orcish, etc.). Affinity for Physical.

Torrent the Shadow: Knowledge of the Umbral language. Affinity for Necromancy.

Ellara the Astral Mother: Knowledge of the Celestial language. Affinity for Creation (Cleric Spell List).

 

You also gain one additional spell based on your chosen affinity which does not count against your number of sorcerer spells known.

Hand of Fate

As your connection to the Astral Sea waxes and wanes you have developed a tentative control over your understanding of your fate. With your innate and learned knowledge of constellation maps and the night sky, you can sometimes predict what may come to be and give a warning. Once per long rest you can use your reaction to grant yourself or a nearby ally within 30 feet temporary hit points based on 1d4 per sorcerer level.

Astral Guidance

Your selected affinity will alter spells of the related type by allowing you to add your proficiency bonus to either the damage roll of a spell with that affinity or to increase the save required for that spell. You can use this feature up to half of your total sorcerer class level (minimum of one). Once all charges of this feature have been expended you cannot regain affinity points until completing a long rest.

Astral Connection

Beginning at 14th level, you begin to encapsulate the form and representation of your celestial sign. Depending on your affinity you will gain one of the following properties. As a bonus action for each sorcery point spent you gain the following effects. These effects will last for the next 10 minutes or until dismissed or the sorcerer falls unconscious. 

  • You gain the ability to sprout astral wings from your back granting you the ability to fly up to your walking speed. 
  • You gain the effects of the etherealness spell allowing you to move through the Mistlands freely.
  • You gain the ability to emit the aura of your sign and the tenants and properties associated with it. This grants you advantage on persuasion or intimidation checks depending on your sign.
  • You gain the effects of the True Seeing spell allowing you to discern the natural aspects of the world around you up to a range of 120 feet.

 

 

Astral Ascension

Beginning at the 18th level, you have gained the ability to fully project your Astral Sign in all of its glory. As a bonus action, you can take on your Astral Form, appearing as a large humanoid star-filled constellation. In this form, you are immune to non-magical damage, gain resistance to all magical damage types except Force, and can add your Charisma modifier to damage/healing rolls of your chosen affinity. This form lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if dismissed as a bonus action or if the sorcerer is incapacitated.
