Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who take the Oath of The Storm harbor intense emotions or sorrow that they express through rage and fury. Typically, these paladins attempt to balance or control these emotions, to varied success.

TENETS OF THE STORM

The tenets of the Oath of The Storm drive a paladin to control their emotions, and only let them out in controlled situations.

Do not Escalate. Do not escalate a situation that does not warrant your rage.

Do not Destroy. Allow your world to grow around you. Do not destroy needlessly.

No Collateral. Do not harm those who aren't a part of your anger.

Control your Emotions. Do not let your emotions take control of you, know that you're the one in control.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Lightning Blade. As an action you can imbue a weapon with crackling lightning. For 1 minute, the weapon is considered magical, you add your charisma modifier to attack rolls, and the damage type of the weapon changes to lightning damage. The weapon makes a loud ringing sound, like a cacophony of chirping birds, that can be heard from 300 feet away.

You can end the effect as part of any other action, if you are no longer holding the weapon, or if you fall unconscious.

Lightning Strike. As an action, you can force one creature you can see within 60 feet to make a Dexterity saving throw contested by your Spell Save DC, taking 4d8 Lightning damage on a failure, or none on a success. This damage increases as you gain levels in this class, becoming 6d8 at 7th level, 8d8 at 11th level, and 10d8 at 17th level.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of The Storm Spells

Aura of Static

Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you add extra lightning damage to their melee attacks equal to your charisma modifier.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Movement of Lightning

Beginning at 15th level, your movement speed increases by 20 feet, and you gain a fly speed equal to half your walking speed (rounded down).

Storms Fury

At 20th level, you can empower yourself with the wrath of storms fury. As a bonus action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • Your Divine Smites deal lightning damage instead of radiant.
  • Your walking speed doubles and your flying speed quadruples.
  • You can use your Channel Divinity: Lightning Strike without expending your Channel Divinity.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a 5th-level spell slot to use it again.
