Base Class: Fighter
The Linebreaker (also known as a Blitzer) is a highly mobile combatant that thrives on using their ability to pass by enemies that try to stop them, create openings for their allies, and hound whoever their next target happens to be.
Picking this archetype is a commitment that no matter where a particular target might be, you will not be denied the opportunity to get there, and cause some havoc in the process.
Version 1.2 changes:
- Formatting fixes
- Included changes to Level 7 and Level 18 features, which each cause the Fighter's size to be considered larger when attempting shoves/grapples.
- Grapple on the Go now requires at least 10 feet of movement before a grapple is made to avoid movement penalties for the rest of the turn for dragging/carrying a grappled creature.
Peak Performance
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Acrobatics and Athletics skills if you don't already have it. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses Athletics.
Prize Chaser
Starting at 3rd level, you are able to hone your attention to a target, and stop at nothing to get to them. When you roll initiative, or as a bonus action, you can mark one creature you can see within 60 feet of you for the next minute, or until you use this feature again. This effect also ends early if you are incapacitated or killed.
While this creature is marked, all opportunity attacks you provoke from creatures not marked by you are made at disadvantage. In addition, opportunity attacks you make against a creature marked by you are made with advantage.
Additionally, whenever you hit another creature with a melee weapon attack, you can use your bonus action to either:
- Push the creature 5 feet in a direction of your choice.
- If the creature is marked by you, you can force them to succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone.
If the creature marked by you fails this saving throw, you can immediately use this feature to mark a different creature within 60 feet that you can see (no action required).
Hard to Stop
Starting at 7th level, your speed increases by 10 feet.
Additionally, after you expend 10 feet of movement on your turn, difficult terrain doesn't cost you extra movement for the rest of your turn.
Finally, you count as one size larger when attempting a shove or grapple.
Grapple on the Go
At 10th level, your ability to disrupt your opponents becomes more seamless.
On your turn, when you make a melee attack against a creature, you can use your bonus action to attempt a grapple against the target of your attack.
If you move at least 10 feet in a straight line immediately before a successful grapple, you can drag or carry the grappled creature with you without any penalty to your speed, but only on the turn when you initiated the grapple. At the end of your turn, you can push the grappled creature 5 feet in a direction of your choice if they are still grappled by you.
Beat Them to the Punch
At 15th level, your instincts push you to make the first move, before anyone else is able to anticipate your motions. You have advantage on initiative rolls, and whenever you make an initiative roll, treat a roll of 9 or lower on the d20 as an 10.
In addition, when initiative is rolled, after you have marked creature using Prize Chaser, you can immediately move up to your speed, as long as you are moving towards the creature you have marked.
Finally, once on your turn, you can either impose the push or prone from Prize Chaser as part of an attack, without expending your bonus action to do so.
Untouchable, Unstoppable
Starting at 18th level, you are considered to always be under the effect of the freedom of movement spell.
In addition, you can move through spaces occupied by hostile creatures. If you attempt to end your movement in the same space as a hostile creature, you can attempt a shove. If your shove fails, you are forced backwards into the nearest open space. You also count as one additional size larger when attempting a shove or grapple (making you count as two sizes larger than your normal size).
Finally, you can either push a target 5 feet, or attempt a grapple, any time you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack.
