Base Class: Barbarian
The Path of the Ancient Dragon was an art invented by Barbarian worshippers of Bahamut, Tiamat, and Sardior alike. The fighting style allowed these worshippers to use their rage to transform their bodies into that of a draconic vessel, giving them an unspeakable power. Back in a time before the discovery of Greatwyrms, they named the technique after the highest form of known dragons, Ancient Dragons.
Practice of the Ancient Dragon
You have practiced the techniques of the Ancient Dragon Barbarians before you, granting you the following benefits
Tongue of Dragons. You learn to speak, read, and write Draconic fluently if you do not already have the language.
Draconic Weapon. When you damage a target with a melee weapon attack, you can deal 3 extra damage of the type following types: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. You may only do this once per turn.
Draconic Presence. If you fail a Charisma (Intimidation) or Charisma (Persuasion) check, you can use your reaction to reroll the check, as you tap into the mighty presence of dragons. Once this feature turns a failure into a success, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Hide of the Ancient Dragon
Starting at 3rd level when you first select this subclass, when you go into rage, scales begin to form across your body, making weapon attack attempts on you almost futile. While you are raging and you are not wearing armor, you gain a +2 bonus to your AC.
Heart of the Ancient Dragon
Starting at 6th level, you can weaponize your rage by allowing your heart to pump the blood of dragons. When you first gain this feature, choose one of the following damage types: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. That will be the associated damage type of this feature. You can change the associated damage type whenever you gain a new feature in this subclass.
While you are raging, you gain a resistance to the associated damage type of this feature. You can also replace an attack with the Attack action with a breath weapon of the associated damage type. This breath weapon covers a 30-foot line that is 5 feet wide. When using the breath weapon, any creature in the line must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution or Charisma modifier, whichever one of the two is higher.) or else take 2d10 damage of the associated damage type. On a successful save the creature will take half of the damage.
Wings of the Ancient Dragon
Starting at 10th level, you can channel your anger to allow yourself to grow the great and powerful wings of an Ancient Dragon. During your rage, you have a flying speed equal to your movement speed.
Essence of the Ancient Dragon
Starting at 14th level, you have mastered the art of the Ancient Dragon Barbarians before you. Because of this, you can harness the essence of dragons, even when you are not raging. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
Additionally, when you rage, any creature who can see you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution or Charisma modifier, whichever one is higher) or else become frightened of you. A creature who is frightened this way can use their action to reroll the save. A creature who succeeds on the saving throw caused by this feature cannot be affected by this feature for 1 hour.
