Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Ancient Oak understand that creatures represent only a portion of the life energy invested with ki - life energy is found in nature as well. These monks draw inspiration from the longevity, endurance, rootedness, and connectedness of trees, forests, and the earth, and seek to channel those elements into their practice.

Touched by Nature

When you choose this monastic tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Nature skill if you do not already have it. Additionally, you learn the druidcraft cantrip.

Deep Roots

Also at 3rd level, you have learned how to channel your ki through your body and into the earth. On any turn when you expend at least 1 ki point, you also gain a bonus equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) to any ability check or saving throw to avoid being restrained, knocked prone, or pushed against your will until the end of your next turn.

One with the Earth

Starting at 6th level, you have learned to touch not only the energy of other creatures but also of the land. As a bonus action on your turn, you can spend 3 ki points to turn the ground in a 10-foot radius around you into difficult terrain. A creature in this area of difficult terrain has disadvantage on saving throws against your ki effects, as well as on any saving throw to avoid being pushed, restrained, or knocked prone. This effect lasts for one minute or until you lose concentration (as though concentrating on a spell).

You can use this bonus action a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and must then finish a long rest before you can use it again.

Sheltering Branches

At 11th level, you have learned to channel the shielding nature of ancient trees. When you use your Patient Defense, you can choose one creature within 5 feet of you. Until the end of your next turn, that creature also has the benefit of the Dodge action.

Tree Walker

At 17th level, you have connected to the forest on a fundamental level. You can spend 6 ki points to cast tree stride
