Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Witches are not born, they are made. They are made by other witches. Witches introduce others to the occult powers they possess. Witches can serve a specific spirit, creature, deity, ancient power or they can pull their power from the weave of magic in the world. Once enthralled, a creature is inaugurated to the coven, the pact, the life of power. Witches often stay with the coven, others prefer an existence alone. Either way, witches have to gather together at least once a year to pay respects to the ancient magics and spirits that grant them their power. Witches around the worlds gather in places of power. Magical hot spots, spiritually important groves and glades, homes of spirits and houses of gods. Witches should not be confused with other magical peoples. Witches gather their power from community. Whether they like it or not.

Coven Magic

Starting at 1st level, you gain the ability to empower others and to be empowered by others. As a special action you can give your action of your upcoming turn to another. This requires you to know the creatures name and to have touched the creature. You can use this ability once per short rest.

If you trust another, you can spend 3 hours to perform a ritual to connect you through ancient magics. The ritual requires a biological piece of both creatures, a lock of hair, a tooth, a nail, a piece of skin or blood for example. After the ritual is complete, the creature you are now bonded with acquires the ability to give their upcoming action of their upcoming turn to you as a special action. They can use this once per long rest. This creature now becomes you Bonded. You can have up to 3 Bonded at a time.

If you choose to part ways with a Bonded or have found another to bind yourself to, you can spend 8 hours to perform a ritual to sever ties with a Bonded of your choice. This ritual does not require materials.

The Witch lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn warlock spells. At 2nd level you learn the Thorn Whip cantrip, and the following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Coven Magic Mastery

At 10th level, your mastery over witchcraft has grown and you and your Bonded receive new effects while in the presence of each other.

• You or your Bonded cannot be charmed or frightened while in 15ft. of each other.
• Your Bonded have advantage on charisma saving throws while in 15ft. of you.
• You or your Bonded do not receive any damage caused by a spell cast by you or your Bonded as long as that spell has an area of effect. For example, fireball cast by you does not affect your Bonded, but eldritch blast does. You or your Bonded do not need to make saving throws when entering the area of effect of a spell cast by you or your Bonded if the saving throw is used to determine how much damage they would take. Other effects, such as blindness or deafness, are not negated, and you or your Bonded must make the appropriate saving throws if in the spell’s area of effect.

The Power of Unity

At 6th level, your Bonded gain the ability to sacrifice their vitality to help bolster your magical abilities. Your Bonded can cause damage to them selves as a bonus action to give you a spell slot. The amount of damage depends on the spell slot level. The amount of d4 increase by spell slot level. 1st level spells slots require 1d4+5 damage, 2nd level spell slots require 2d4+5 damage and so on. This feature can be used 1 per long rest. The amount of uses increases to 2 per long rest at level 10 and 3 per long rest at level 16.

If one of your Bonded is a spell caster, you can perform the same action to give them a spell slot. The same rules apply to you.

Walpurgis Existence

At 14th level your understanding of covens and Bonded is extended beyond its known limits. You understand how to live with, through and in your Bonded and how they can do the same for you.

  • Your maximum number of Bonded increases to 5.
  • The time spent on the rituals to gain new Bonded and sever ties with a Bonded are halved.
  • You gain the ability to see through the eyes of your Bonded as long as they are willing.
  • If you and your Bonded are within 30 ft. of each other and are willing, you or your bonded can use Walpurgis Switch and switch your places as a bonus action. This can be used 3 times per short rest. If your Bonded uses this feature it uses one of your charges as well as theirs.
  • You gain the ability to cast spells through your Bonded as if they were a familiar.
  • You and your Bonded share a telepathic connection if you are within 300ft.
