Monk
Base Class: Monk

When magic users are seen to abuse their power, a sect of monks can be called upon to use tightly held secrets learned pre-spellplauge to help keep those that abuse the weave in check.

Weave Sense

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in one of the following skills: Arcana. Whenever you make an ability check with the chosen skill, you may spend one Ki point to roll your Martial Arts die and add it to that roll.

Additionally you can use your ki to help you attune your senses to the weave around you. You can spend 2 Ki point sense presence of magic within 30 feet of you for 10 minutes. For the duration, you sense the presence of magic within 30 feet of you. If you sense magic in this way, you can use your action to see a faint aura around any visible creature or object in the area that bears magic, and you learn its school of magic, if any.
The sense can penetrate most barriers, but it is blocked by 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt.

You can spend 2 Ki point to sense identity of magic items. You choose one object that you must touch throughout the casting of the spell. If it is a magic item or some other magic-imbued object, you learn its properties and how to use them, whether it requires attunement to use, and how many charges it has, if any. You learn whether any spells are affecting the item and what they are. If the item was created by a spell, you learn which spell created it. If you instead touch a creature throughout the casting, you learn what spells, if any, are currently affecting it.

Also at 3rd level, when you hit one of your Flurry of Blows attacks you may apply one of the following effects:

- The target of the attack must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, they cannot speak until the start of your next turn;
- The target of the attack must make a Strength saving throw. On a failure, they cannot move their hands in a precise manner, making them unable to provide the somatic component of spells and have disadvantage on the next attack they make until the start of your next turn

Weave Interruptor

Mana Burn

At 6th level, you gain the ability to burn magic users spell slots, when you make an attack against a magic user you can force them to make a Constitution saving throw and you burn your {{proficiency}} bonus in spell slot levels. You must spend 1 Ki per spell slot burned.

Ki Dash Counterspell Reaction
On a successful Arcana check, you may use an available reaction to dash and burn a Ki point per spell level to attempt to interrupt a creature you can see and are in range of in the process of casting a spell. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a success, the creature's spell fails and has no effect.

Dispel Enchantment
Once per long rest, you may choose one creature, object, or magical effect that is within 5' of you. You may spend 2x Ki (minimum 6 Ki) of the spell level enchantment to end the enchantment on the target.

Mage Slayer Feat
You have practiced techniques useful in melee combat against spellcasters, gaining the following benefits:

  • When a creature within 5 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature.
  • When you damage a creature that is concentrating on a spell, that creature has disadvantage on the saving throw it makes to maintain its concentration.
  • You have advantage on saving throws against spells cast by creatures within 5 feet of you.

Weave Resistance

By 11th level, you have learned to become one against magical effects. You gain resistance to all types of magic and have advantage on Saving Throws against Spells and other magical effects.

Living Anti-Magic Zone

At 17th level, you become a living anti-magic field

Antimagic Body

A 10-foot-radius Invisible Sphere of antimagic surrounds you. This area is divorced from the magical energy that suffuses the multiverse. Within the SphereSpells can't be cast, summoned Creatures disappear, and even magic items become mundane. The Sphere moves with you, centered on you.
