Base Class: Fighter
"Gars stepped up to join his brethren on the front line, staring across the battlefield at the horde of orcish warriors who noisily roared and clanged their gear together in an act of feral intimidation. He gripped his longsword with determination and barked out to his comrades "Forward!" as the orc horde began to run the field in their advance. Meeting his command, the frontline of his army began to stride forth, and the other commanders on the line echoed down the row with such orders, making the line of men advance into the coming fray. With no hesitation, Gars strode forth with his brethren-in-arms and met the orcish forces with his blade at the ready, clashing and crushing against the ugliest orcs. Their arms were strong, beating into his body with their distorted blades, but his chainmail armor held true and his training enabled him to stay standing strong against them despite the pain of their clobbering strikes. He dispatched orc after orc with his sword, grinning at their futile efforts at assaulting him. His fellow warriors filed in behind him as he held against the breach in the orcish lines, and while he continued to be battered about and bruised from incoming strikes, his defensive capability kept the line, and his allies slaughtered the monsters as they fought to work around him. In moments, the calvary arrived and swept through the enemy ranks, slaughtering orcs by the droves. As the enemy line depleted and their other forces fell back, Gars grinned more widely at his foes' terror and defeat. Another battle won fast, from his armies' and his own incredible skill, and tomorrow he would still stand on another frontline and finish off another army of orcs."
Most fighters will tell you that a good armor is absolutely vital to the battlefield, but few fighters specialize in armor use and even the knowledge of shields in tandem as much as the Brynwiggende. These warriors can be wearing simple armor, yet somehow they seem more survivable than any other warriors might appear. This comes from a well-trained knowledge of not only how to wear their armor proficiently, but how to use it in every way as a shell to save their body from harm. Constant armored training eventually allows these soldiers to ignore any hindrance an armor would cause to speed or mobility, to resist critical injury, and to become armored juggernauts the likes of which are hardly seen in warfare among mortal warriors. While most Brynwiggende favor medium-heft armors like scale mail and lamellar, the wealthier armies of the world can afford to equip footmen with heavier suits, or an individual adventuring Brynwiggende may choose to wear heavy suits of armor like full chainmail and their ability in it is still yet second to none.
Armor Expertise
3rd-level Brynwiggende feature
At 3rd level, you learn the training necessary to wear armors and shields of various types with the highest degree of expertise. Whereas this doesn't seem to the outward observer to take a great deal of guidance or effort, the true nuance of using armors comes only with time and experience that you have specifically trained in. You gain the Defense fighting style, and you no longer suffer disadvantage on Stealth checks when wearing any light and medium armors.
Additionally, if you are using a shield, you can quickly interpose your shield against adjacent attacks to your allies. Whenever a creature within 5 feet of you would be subject to a weapon attack, you can use your reaction to interpose your shield, adding your shield's armor class bonus to that creature's armor class, which may cause the attack to miss. When you perform this reaction, you lose your shield's bonus to your armor class until the beginning of your next turn.
Superior Defensive Technique
7th-level Brynwiggende feature
At 7th level, you have learned the basis of superior defense, those special protective battlefield maneuvers that tactically support your army in ways well beyond those of the average foot soldier. You gain two maneuvers from the following list of maneuvers: Bait and Switch, Brace, Evasive Footwork, Parry, Rally, and Riposte. You have 3 Superiority Dice to power these maneuvers, each of which are d8's. You gain one additional die at 15th level. See the Battle Master archetype for descriptions of Maneuvers and Superiority Dice.
Additionally, you know how to properly wear the exact necessary garments under armor or make the perfect adjustments as you don it to make it fit the best it possibly can. Whenever you wear any armor, you no longer suffer disadvantage to Stealth checks or suffer any reduction to speed, regardless of Strength.
Toughened Stature
10th-level Brynwiggende feature
You're hard as nails, and tough as they come, having rigorously taken many beatings to harden your frame and you have reflected this in your training in ways that have solidified you. You double your Constitution bonus on all Constitution saving throws.
Additionally, you gain the Tough feat. If you already have this feat, you may choose another feat instead.
Utterly Indomitable
15th-level Brynwiggende feature
At 15th level, you gain a powerful capability to resist harm from multiple circumstances more often. Whenever you roll initiative, if you have no uses of your Indomitable feature remaining, you regain one use.
Additionally, if you are pummeled to a point of being ready to fall, you can summon one final reserve of strength to stay standing. If you are dealt enough damage to reduce you to 0 hit points, you may use a reaction and expend one use of your Indomitable feature to stay standing without falling unconscious, instantly regaining 1 hit point. Once you have used this feature, you may not use it again until you finish a long rest.
Unyielding Edifice
18th-level Brynwiggende feature
At 18th level, you have learned the ultimate expression of self-fortification and defense, which is a sheer, dogged toughness that few can match. You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage as long as you are wearing armor.
Additionally, whenever you would be subject to a critical hit, your attacker must roll a second attack roll. If that second roll misses, the attack is a normal hit and not a critical hit.
