Base Class: Rogue
Some have always dreamt of the mystical arts, but unable to feel touch of magic course through their bodies, they've fallen into the material alone. Others, despite not being able to learn or manipulate enchantments or spells, have been able to feel the essence of the magic itself in the Ether. These Rogue's are able to absorb and harness the smallest patches of magic into their bodies and augment themselves.
How did you discover this unusual and rare ability? Were you outcast from a magic academy for not having ability and now have a disdain or spellcasters? Or maybe you were granted a Wish to become an even stronger Wizard and it back-fired, stripping you of your abilities?
Bonus Skill & Proficiencies
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the Arcana skill.
Ether Siphon
3rd-level Mage Slayer feature
Like a sponge, your body has become sensitive to the magics around you. When you choose this subclass at 3rd level, you learn the ability to absorb magic essence from any spells cast within 30ft of you. As a reaction to any spell being cast above Level 0, you can absorb the ether from that spell to gain 1 Ether point. You always start with 0 Ether Points after a long rest, and you always lose unspent Ether Points from your pool once you finish a long rest.
Additionally, whenever you kill a creature magical in nature, you gain 1 Ether Point.
Paroxysm
3rd-level Mage Slayer feature
Additionally at 3rd level, as an action you can discharge the Ether from your body and make a ranged spell attack damage for 2d6. The damage type is force damage. This does not consume an Ether Point. Alternatively, you can also choose to spend 1 Ether Point to instead add 1d6 force damage to a melee or ranged weapon attack until the start of your next turn. Additional Ether Points spent add 1d6 to the damage roll.
Master of the Mantra
9th-level Mage Slayer feature
Beginning at 9th level, you are able to discern the patterns in the Weave it and manipulate the ether from the magic itself. You now add your WIS modifier to your initiative rolls. Additionally, you may choose one of the following benefits:
Ether Aegis
Whenever you absorb Ether from a spell, you gain resistance to the damage type of the spell cast until the start of your next turn. If that spell doesn’t have a damage type, you gain advantage on spells cast on you from the spells source type (ex: radiant, conjuration, divination, etc)
Weave-Stream
As a bonus action you may spend 2 Ether Points to teleport yourself or a willing creature you can see within 60 feet to an unoccupied space within 30 feet that you can see. If you teleport another creature other than yourself, the target is moved 30 from where they are standing.
Spell Scorch
13th-level Mage Slayer feature
Starting at 13th level, your connection to the ether lashes out at spellcasters. While you have at least 1 Ether Point in your pool whenever you Ether Siphon, you may choose to add your WIS modifier in psychic damage to the target. (Min of 1)
Annul Ether
17th-level Mage Slayer feature
Whenever you absorb Ether from a spell, you may spend 2 Ether Points to convert the ether into negative energy against that spell and nullify it. The target must make a WIS save against your spell DC or the spell fizzles out. If the target is successful in it's save, only spend 1 Ether Point instead. This feature can be used with along with Spell Scorch and does not count as a spell. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You restore all uses of this ability after a long rest.
