Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Whether you are settling down from a checkered past or you were raised from a young age for the role, you take great pride in your job as steward to your noble liege. You would do anything and everything to ensure their comfort and safety and to that end you seek to constantly improve your skillset. Like a living Swiss Army Knife, you are prepared for any task your liege requires.

This subclass's features contain Optional additional effects and abilities that your DM may permit the use of.

Live to Serve

The dedicated steward must be prepared to assist their liege in a variety of manners.

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain advantage on all checks related to tasks that involve cleaning or organizing. Additionally, you gain each of the following proficiencies if you don't already have them. At 9th level you may choose one of the following proficiencies to gain and then choose one again at 13th and 17th level:

  • Your choice of Cook’s Utensils, Weaver’s Tools, or Calligrapher's Supplies
  • Another Artisan's Tool or Musical Instrument of your choice
  • Your choice of Medicine, Survival, History, Animal Handling, or another skill from the Rogue list

You also adopt a particular style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can't take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again.

  • Blind Fighting. You have blindsight with a range of 10 feet. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn't behind total cover, even if you're blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature within that range, unless the creature successfully hides from you.
  • Dueling. When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
  • Interception. When a creature you can see hits a target, other than you, within 5 feet of you with an attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage the target takes by 1d10 + your proficiency bonus (to a minimum of 0 damage). You must be wielding a shield or a simple or martial weapon to use this reaction.
  • Protection. When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be wielding a shield.
  • Thrown Weapon Fighting. You can draw a weapon that has the thrown property as part of the attack you make with the weapon. In addition, when you hit with a ranged attack using a thrown weapon, you gain a +2 bonus to the damage roll.
  • Two-Weapon Fighting. When you engage in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.
  • Unarmed Finesse. Your unarmed strikes can deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Dexterity modifier on a hit. If you aren't wielding any weapons or a shield when you make the attack roll, the d6 becomes a d8. At the start of each of your turns, you can deal 1d4 bludgeoning damage to one creature grappled by you.

Optional: When you reach 9th level, you may trade your Fighting Style for a different one instead of taking a new proficiency.

Your cleaning prowess makes any campsite feel like home. Allies recover an additional 1d6 HP during short rests. This recovery increases by an additional 1d6 at 9th level (2d6) and then again at 15th level (3d6) and 17th level (4d6).

Optional: If your liege is present during a short rest you may provide pampering service to them (or, with your liege's permission, another single ally other than yourself), allowing them to recover HP equal to your Sneak Attack damage.

Clean Sweep

One of the prime duties of a steward is quickly and efficiently cleaning any space.

Starting at 3rd level, you can use an action to remove non-magical difficult terrain in a radius equal to half your movement speed. You may use this feature a number of times per long rest equal to 1 + your DEX modifier (minimum 1). You choose one of the following enhancements to this feature at 9th level, then a different one at 13th level, and then another at 17th level:

  • You may use this feature as a bonus action
  • The radius increases to your full movement speed
  • You can remove magical difficult terrain
  • You gain 2 additional uses of this feature

You also know the Prestidigitation cantrip if you don't already know it.

Optional: Starting at 9th level, enemies in the effective radius must make a DEX save against your DEX score. They take 1d6 bludgeoning damage on a failed save and half as much on a successful save. This damage increases to half your Sneak Attack damage at 13th level and full Sneak Attack damage at 17th level.

Protect and Serve

The most important duty of a steward is protecting their liege.

Starting at 9th level, If an ally (other than yourself) within a range of 5 feet of you is dealt damage, you may use your reaction to move to a space within 5 feet of them and reduce the damage by your Sneak Attack damage. The targeted ally then takes the remaining damage. Starting at 13th level, the range increases to half your movement speed, movement using this feature no longer provokes attacks of opportunity, and you may choose to take up to half of the remaining damage in your ally's stead. Starting at 17th level, the range increases to your full movement speed, you may choose to take any amount of the remaining damage in your ally's stead, and if the dealt damage is reduced to 0, any left over Sneak Attack damage may be dealt to any target within 5 feet of you.

Optional: When protecting someone other than your liege and their family, the damage reduction is only half your Sneak Attack damage.

Speedy Service

You have become so efficient in your duties that you seem to be able to be in two places at once.

Starting at 13th level, you may cast Unseen Servant without vocal or material components and without the need for spell slots. You can cast the spell this way a number of times per long rest equal to 1 + your DEX modifier (minimum 1). The spell's effect ends and cannot be cast with this feature if your speed is 0 or you fall prone. The unseen servant cannot move further than your movement speed from your location. While your Unseen Servant is inactive, your movement speed increases by 10 feet. At 17th level the spell's duration becomes unlimited and your movement speed remains increased during the duration.

Optional: You may expend a use of this feature to cast Mirror Image without the need for a spell slot or vocal components. The spell's effect ends and cannot be cast with this feature if your speed is 0 or you fall prone.

Majordomo

You have reached the zenith of your stewardship prowess and are well prepared for nearly any eventuality. Your breadth of talents enables you to improvise solutions on the fly.

When you reach 17th level, you may choose 2 more skills to gain Expertise in. Additionally, you may use your DEX modifier instead of another attribute modifier for checks in skills you have proficiency in. You may add your DEX modifier to the normal attribute modifier instead for checks in skills you have Expertise in.

Optional: As Head Steward, your management abilities grant you the Inspiring Leader feat if you don't already have it.
