Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Those who take this oath find that questing for knowledge is one of the noblest pursuits, devoting their lives to the discovery, preservation and sharing of knowledge. Orders of these warriors operate from libraries and royal archives, engaging in study and defending their fellow scholars when they are not searching the world for answers to its mysteries.

TENETS OF ERUDITION

The tenets of the Oath of Erudition extoll the importance of knowledge, educating the ignorant and preserving knowledge for future generations.

Redistribute Knowledge. Knowledge is a gift, share it with the worthy, preserve it for the people, but do not let it fall into the wrong hands.

Discover and Learn. Seek out knowledge where you can find it, and never stop learning. There is always something new that you can use to improve yourself.

Inform and Inspire. Inspire others through word and deed. Teach those who are willing to learn and seek to enlighten those who are not.

Destroy Profane Secrets. There is some knowledge that mortals cannot be trusted with. Destroy it, so that it may never be misused.

Channel Divinity

3rd Level Oath of Erudition feature

You gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Information Overload. By flooding the mind of your enemy with a torrent of trivial facts and information, you momentarily shut down their brain’s cognitive functions. As an action, you present your holy symbol and target one creature within 30 feet of you that you can see. The creature must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or be stunned. While stunned in this way, the creature repeats the saving throw at the end of each of its turns. On a success, it is no longer stunned.

Knowledge Is Power. As an action, you call on divine guidance, allowing you to cast a spell from a scroll, regardless of the class associated with it. If the spell is of a higher level than one you are normally capable of, you have advantage on the ability check you require to cast it.

Aura of Knowledge

7th Level Oath of Erudition feature

Creatures of your choice within 30 feet can add half your proficiency bonus, rounded down, to any ability check they make in a skill, tool or musical instrument you are proficient in.

In addition, creatures of your choice within the aura (including yourself) can us the Help action as a bonus action.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases by 10 feet.

Hidden Lore

15th Level Oath of Erudition feature

You have examined a range of magical knowledge from a wide variety of sources. Choose one spell from any class, including this one. A spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Paladin table, or a cantrip.

The chosen spell counts as a paladin spell for you and is additional to the number of spells in the Spells Known column of the Paladin table.

You learn an additional spell from any class at 17th level.

Hidden Lore (17th level)

15th Level Oath of Erudition feature

You have examined a range of magical knowledge from a wide variety of sources. Choose one spell from any class, including this one. A spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Paladin table, or a cantrip.

The chosen spell counts as a paladin spell for you and is additional to the number of spells in the Spells Known column of the Paladin table.

You learn an additional spell from any class at 17th level.

Living Library

20th Level Oath of Erudition feature

Your continued quest for knowledge has honed your mind’s ability to recall information and put your learning into practice.

Whenever you make an ability check that lets you add your proficiency bonus, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10.

In addition, you no longer need to prepare spells from the Paladin spell list, instead you may cast any available spell using your available spell slots.
