Base Class: Druid
Not all life is bold and beautiful. Druids of the Circle of Vermin support the scurrying undergrowth, the scavengers of the natural world. Unlike most Druids, Druids of the Circle of Vermin can find themselves quite comfortable in cities, surrounded by the ecosystem that builds up in and around the garbage of civilization.
The magic of these strange Druids can manifest in ways that seem strange to the layman. They see futures read in the movements of rats or pigeons, track their targets through the breaking of fences and the opening of new food sources. Insects and small, hated creatures are their friends.
Scurrying Mischief
2nd-level Circle of Vermin feature
While transformed using your Wild Shape feature, if you are transformed into a beast of Tiny or smaller size, you are always proficient in Stealth, and may use your proficiency bonus instead of the beast's on Stealth ability checks.
Circle Spells
3rd-level Circle of Vermin feature
Your friendship with vermin and scavengers grants you access to certain spells. At 3rd level, you learn the mage hand cantrip and the grease, expeditious retreat and spider climb spells.
At 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to the spells listed for that level in the Circle of Vermin Spells table. Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.
Circle of Vermin Spells
| Druid Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | mage hand, grease, expeditious retreat, spider climb |
| 5th | stinking cloud |
| 7th | faithful hound |
| 9th | mislead, contagion |
Swarming Riders
6th-level Circle of Vermin feature
Your transformations take on the aspects of a chittering swarm, as vermin pours off your new shape. Starting at 6th Level, when you are transformed via your Wild Shape feature and a creature moves within 10 feet of you, you may use a reaction to direct the swarm to that creature, dropping it's remaining movement this turn to 0 feet unless it succeeds on a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC.
Font of Vermin
6th-level Circle of Vermin feature
Starting at 6th level, you can use your Wild Shape to transform into a swarm instead of a single beast. All of the normal restrictions of Wild Shape apply, including a maximum CR of 1/2 and may not have a flying speed. At a Druid level of 8, this increases to a maximum CR of 1 and the restriction on flying speed is lifted, as per the Wild Shape restrictions. The swarm must be composed of beasts, regardless of character level.
Provided that the beast the swarm is composed of is Tiny or smaller, you may use your Scurrying Mischief feature.
Uncanny Watchers
10th-level Circle of Vermin feature
While meditating, you gain the ability to see through the eyes of the small creatures around you, giving you hundreds of small eyes to watch your surroundings. You can choose to become blinded and deafened as long as you continue to meditate and remain stationary. While you maintain this, you cannot be surprised and know the exact location and identity of all the creatures in a 200 foot sphere around you. You may maintain this while taking a short or long rest, but cannot continue to maintain it while sleeping.
Creatures may become aware of this effect if they pass a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. Creatures who become aware will notice the unusual behavior of the local vermin, though they may not be aware of the cause.
Abundant Forms
14th-level Circle of Vermin feature
You are so integrated into the constant small life around you that your body and sense of self has blurred at the edges. You gain resistance to poison damage and become immune to diseases and the poisoned condition. In addition, any divination magic or scrying sensors cannot detect you directly, and provide only the approximate area that you are in, with a 2 mile radius.
