Base Class: Druid
Druids of the Circle of the Scales spend most of their lives studying, living alongside or worshipping dragons. Unlike the wild ever-changing Circle of the Moon druids, most Cirle of the Scales druids prefer having one form as their go-to transformation.
Dragon Form
Druids of the Circle of Scales do not use their Wild Shape feature to transform into any beast of their choice like other Druids and instead transform into a dragon.
At 2nd level you must choose the color of your dragon form: black, blue, brass, bronze, copper, gold, red, silver or white, each associated with one element. Instead of transforming into a beast when using your Wild Shape feature, you transform into a 2 ft tall Dragon Hatchling of the color you chose.
In your Dragon Hatchling form you have 30 HP and an Armor Class of 16, a Strength score of 17, a Dexterity score of 8 and a Constitution score of 15, you have resistance to the element associated with your color, and have Darkvision up to 60ft. Your bite deals 1d6 + your strength modifier piercing damage and you are proficient with it. Your dragon form has a walking speed of 40ft.
Whenever you gain a level in the Druid class, your Dragon Form grows, becoming one foot larger and gaining 5 hp with each level as well as gaining +1 strength at levels 3, 6 and 9, +1 dexterity at levels 4, 7 and 10 and +1 constitution at level 5. Additionally, whenever your statistics improve due to gaining an Ability Score Improvement, you can choose to increase the stats of your Dragon Form instead.
Bonus Cantrip
At 3rd level you learn the Firebolt cantrip. This version of firebolt deals damage of the element associated with your Dragon Form's color instead of the normal Fire damage.
Dragon Breath
At 6th level you gain the ability to use your Dragon Form's breath weapon. While in your Draconic Form you are able to spend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to exhale destructive energy. All creatures within a 15ft cone must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d6 damage of the element associated with your dragon form's color for each level of the spell slot used or half as much on a successful save. The DC for this saving throw is the same as your spell save DC.
After using your breath weapon, you cannot use it again for 1d4-1 turns.
You also gain the ability to use your Dragon Form's tail as a weapon you are proficient with. As a bonus action you can attack with your tail, dealing 1d4 + your strength modifier bludgeoning damage.
Additionally, the damage from your dragon form's physical attacks counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances.
Young Dragon Form
At 10th level your Draconic Form has grown past its hatchling stage. Your dragon form no longer grows with each Druid level you gain and instead stays at 15ft tall but it continues to gain HP.
Your bite attack now deals 2d6 + your strength modifier piercing damage instead of the previous 1d6 and when your bite attack hits you can attempt a grapple against the target as part of the same attack. While you have a creature grappled this way you cannot bite any other creature except the one you have grappled. The grappled creature automatically fails its saving throw against your breath weapon, however all other creatures have advantage on the saving throw against it.
Additionally, your dragon form's wings are grown enough to allow you to fly. You have a flying speed of 20ft and this speed goes up by 5ft each time you gain a level in the Druid class.
Dragon's Might
At 14th level you are able to temporarily bring out your Dragon Form's true potential. While in your Dragon Form as an action, you can cast Enlarge/Reduce without spending a spell slot but only targeting yourself with the "enlarge" effect. While this effect is active, you have advantage on Charisma (intimidation) checks and on Constitution saving throws to keep your concentration after taking damage.
After casting Enlarge/Reduce this way you must finish a long rest before casting it again.
