Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who follow the Path of the Vanquisher know that true victory comes in the form crushing the spirits of their enemies. These frightful warriors sow discord and terror among their enemies, and the dread that follows Vanquishers onto the battlefield is as powerful a weapon as the steel they bring down upon their foes.

Whether they terrify their foes with thunderous shouts and sweeping displays or with a brutal, calm efficiency, Barbarians who follow the Path of the Vanquishers ensure that the battle is won from the second their unlucky enemies lay eyes on them.

Bloodcurdling Call

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can let loose a terrifying battle cry when you rage. If you do so, you may choose a number of creatures within 30 feet equal to your Strength modifier and instill a terror in their hearts. Chosen creatures must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your Vanquisher DC, which is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier. On a failure, the target is frightened until your rage ends, or until they succeed on a repeated Wisdom saving throw, which they make at the end of their turn.

On subsequent turns, if you hit a frightened creature or another hostile creature within 30 of a frightened creature with an attack, all creature's frightened by your Bloodcurdling Call make their next Wisdom save against this effect at disadvantage. Once a target succeeds on a saving throw against your Bloodcurdling Call, they cannot be affected by it until the start of your next rage.

Browbeater

Starting at 3rd level, you don't need to craft the perfect threat or insult to make your enemies feel your presence. You gain proficiency in Intimidation and a bonus to your Intimidation checks equal to your Strength modifier.

Additionally, you may use a bonus action on each of your turns to terrify a creature within 30 feet. The target makes a Wisdom saving throw against the DC of your Bloodcurdling Call. On a failure, the target is frightened of you for the next minute while it can see you. If the target succeeds on its save, you may not use this ability on the same creature until you hit that creature with a melee weapon attack.

Foe Queller

Starting at 6th level, you can smell the fear on your enemies, taking every opportunity to strike them down at their lowest. When a creature you can see fails a saving throw against your Bloodcurdling Call, you may use your reaction to move up to half your speed and make one melee weapon attack against the creature. In addition, the first time each turn you hit a creature frightened of you with a melee weapon attack, you deal an additional 1d6 damage of the same type as your weapon.

Tyrant's Command

Beginning at 10th level, the thought of your bloody retribution is enough to convince your foes to obey your orders. As an action, you can command 3 creatures that you can see who are frightened of you to take one of the following actions on their next turn (both creatures must take the same action):

  • Flee: The target spends its turn moving away from you by the fastest available means.
  • Halt: The target doesn't move and takes no Actions. A flying creature stays aloft, provided that it is able to do so. If it must move to stay aloft, it flies the minimum distance needed to remain in the air.
  • Grovel: The target falls prone and then ends its turn.
  • Drop: The target drops whatever it is holding and then ends its turn.

You may use this feature twice, and you regain all uses on a short or long rest. At 15th level, you may target 4 creatures when you take this action and, at 20th level, you may target 5.

Compound Ruin

Starting at 14th level, the destruction of your foes increases the burning fear you wield. When you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points, you may choose one of the following options:

  • A creature of your choice within 30 feet who is frightened of you takes psychic damage equal to your Barbarian level.
  • You gain temporary hit points equal to your barbarian level.

Between the start of your current turn and the start of your next turn, you may use each of these options only once.
