Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Waterfall train to stand against the tide and use it to their advantage. They train while under a powerful torrent of water to reinforce their balance and strength. The style originates from the Waterfall Monastery, built around a massive waterfall that carved the limestone caves the monks now use to train.
Monks of the Way of the Waterfall prefer loose flowing robes that are treated with special oil to make them waterproof. The pattern of the fabric represents their standing within the hierarchy of the monastery, while the colour is usually a matter of preference.
After training for several years, a monk will undergo a test of ability to determine their initial standing in the hierarchy. They will be put onto a long wooden beam underneath the main flow of the waterfall, and will attempt to deflect the water while maintaining their balance and standing still. The more skill their performance demonstrates, the higher in the rankings they will be put.
Solid Stance
At 3rd level, your balance and coordination is best while standing still. While you are conscious, if you spend no movement on your turn you have advantage for Strength saving throws until the start of your next turn. This ends early if you are knocked unconscious or spend movement.
Additionally, if you have advantage for Strength saving throws because of Solid Stance, you can use Deflect Missiles on a melee weapon attack that hits you. You can redirect a melee attack by spending 1 ki point if you reduce its damage to 0, but the target must be within the melee reach of the creature whose attack you deflected.
Fists Of Deflection
Starting at 6th level, your ability to deflect projectiles has improved greatly. You can use your Deflect Missiles ability to reduce the damage of an effect that forces a Dexterity or Strength saving throw such as falling water or the blast of a fireball. However, you may not spend 1 ki point to redirect the damage as you would with a ranged weapon attack.
Flow Of Power
Starting at 11th level, your limbs flow like the water they were trained with, each motion shifting into the next. Whenever you use Deflect Missiles, including the additional uses provided by previous features of this subclass, it does not require your reaction. You may do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and recover all spent uses after completing a long rest.
Masterful Redirection
By 17th level, your mastery and imitation of flowing water has reached its peak. You can now redirect the damage of Strength or Dexterity saving throws the same way you would with a ranged weapon attack. It deals damage equal to half the damage the triggering effect would deal on a failed saving throw, but does not impose any other effect.
When you use Deflect Missiles to reduce damage of any kind, you can spend 1 ki point to redirect the damage to attack another creature even if the damage wasn't reduced to 0. If the damage is reduced to 0 it doesn't cost any ki.
