Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of Living Flame is a commitment to the balance between civilization and chaos. Paladins who swear by this oath dedicate themselves to serving the good of the people, taming the wilderness, and the ideals of civilization. These Paladins brave the harshest elements, going where few would dare tread in order to bring the light of civilization to the darkest corners of the world. Paladins who swear this oath are often called Crimson Knights, always willing to jump into disaster to bring salvation to those in need.

Tenets

The tenets of the Oath of Living Flame hold a Paladin to the ideals of progress and civilization.

Passion. All must feed the fire within themselves. Living restrained is not living.

Balance. Fire can be a tool of great destruction or creation. Moderation in all things, lest you be consumed.

Innovation. Become the torch for others. Where you lead, others will follow.

Reflection. As fire tests gold, so too does suffering test brave men. Learn from your history, and the history of others, or repeat it.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Eruption. As a reaction, you cause fire to burst from the earth, using your Channel Divinity. When you or an ally within 30ft of you are damaged by a creature you can see, you can cause the earth to erupt beneath the creature. The creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. It takes 2d10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Shield of Ash. As an action, your faith becomes an aegis against elemental extremes, using your Channel Divinity. As an action, you choose a number of creatures (including yourself) you can see within 30 feet of you, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one creature). For 1 minute, the chosen creatures have resistance to cold or fire (your choice). In addition, the chosen creatures, and everything the chosen creatures wear and carry, are unharmed by temperatures as low as −50 degrees Fahrenheit or as high as 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you can’t be hemorrhaged or poisoned while you are conscious.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Raging Flame

Beginning at 15th level, your fire burns past all resistance.  When you deal fire damage, you ignore enemy fire resistance. If a creature has immunity to fire damage, it is no longer immune, but has resistance to fire damage.

Avatar of Fire

At 20th level, you can assume the form of an incarnation of living flame. Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits.

  • Bright light shines from you in a 30-foot radius, and dim light shines 30 feet beyond that.
  • Whenever an enemy creature starts its turn in the bright light, the creature takes 10 fire damage.
  • Whenever an allied creature starts its turn in the bright light, the creature regains 10 hit points.
  • Whenever you hit a creature with a melee weapon, the creature takes an extra 2d10 fire damage.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
