Monk
Base Class: Monk

Ever wanted to be a monk using more than just a wooden stick? Got wrecked in Sekiro and want some retribution on your poor DM? Want to be as silent as a rogue at level 15, but still be usable in a thick fight? Try out the Way of the Shinobi now!

This idea hit me as I watched Sekiro (cool effing game btw), and so I decided to try making such a character in D&D. Unfortunately multiclassing monk and a Samurai fighter was a little dissapointing and didn't quite fill up those expectations. So I did what any reasonable young adult would do. Spend hours making up a subclass with a dozen features...

Shinobi Techniques

At 3rd level you gain proficiency with Martial weapons and Stealth

You also gain access to Techniques, a set of abilities similar to Warlock incantations. Whenever you gain a leven in the Monk class, you can exchange one Technique for another.
You learn two Techniques at 3rd, 6th, 11th and 17th level.

Cutting Mist

When you use Feathers, you slash at the enemy as you dodge back. You can make a melee attack as a part of Feathers reaction.

Exceptionally Sharp

Attacks with your weapons count as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances.

Flurry of Blades

When you use Flurry of Blows, you can use your weapon instead.

Master of Eloquence

You gain proficiency with Persuasion and Deception skills.

Patient Deflection

When you use your Patient Defense feature, and are wielding a weapon, you also gain bonus to AC equal to your Proficiency Modifier.

Posture Break

Requiers: Level 11

If you hit one enemy three times, the next melee attack against that target is a critical hit. Lasts until the end of your next turn, or until the target spends his action or legendary action to regain their posture.

Refocus

When you strike a critical hit, you regain HP equal to your remaining Ki + your Wisdom modifier.

Shadow Walk

You gain Expertise on Stealth. You also make Dexterity (Steatlh) checks with advantage when you're in darkness.

Star's Tail

Requiers: Level 6, Shuriken

As an action you can expend 2 Ki points and make one ranged attack with a shuriken against a target you can see within 30ft and immediately follow up with a melee slash as you quickly close the distance without provoking opportunity attacks. If the shuriken hits, the melee attack is made with advantage.

Study of Text

You can spend 10 minutes translating up to five lines of written text.

Shinobi Tools

At 6th level you gain access to Shinobi Tools.

You may choose one tool of your choice. You gain more at 11th and 17th level.

Feathers

When you're hit by an enemy attack you can expend your reaction and 1 Ki point to halve the incoming damage and move 5ft backwards in a puff of black smoke and feathers.

Firecrackers

A belt of firecrackers. You can use your bonus action and 1 Ki point to throw the firecrackers at your feet. Creatures up to Large within 5ft are considered Incapacitated until the start of their next turn. Beasts in 30ft radius are frightend untill the end of your next turn.

Shuriken

You gain the ability to use the deadly shuriken. They count as a throwing weapon with range 30/60ft that you have proficiency with. Upon hit they deal Martial Arts damage + your Dex modifier. You have number of shurikens equal to your level and you regain them after Long Rest.

Swift and Relentless

At 11th level you obtain mastery with blade and unnatural speed. If you hit your two normal attacks, you can make an additional strike as a free action in addition to a possible Flurry of Blows/Blades.

Dragon Blood

At 17th level if you fall unconscious, you can expend all your Ki to absorb health from creatures within 120ft around you. You regain a number of hitpoints equal to your Wisdom modifier per creature affected (enemies and allies alike) from number of creatures equal to the number of expended Ki. You cannot use this feature if you have three points or less. Using this feature also gives you and everyone affected one point of exhaustion. Cannot target constructs and undead.
