Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks that follow the way of the Crashing Wave seek to imitate the relentless implacable strength of waves. They trade what other monks have in speed for strength and precision. While a monk following another tradition might strike fast and many times, a monk of the Crashing Wave will hit a single time, carrying the strength of more blows. Crashing Wave techniques often emulate the driving strength of waves, pushing enemies away, and landing heavy, implacable blows

Crashing Fists

At level 3 when you choose this archetype you gain the ability to channel ki into a single blow: when you take the Flurry of Blows bonus action you can choose to instead only make one attack. This attack deals an extra die of bludgeoning damage on a hit. Additionally, you can spend an extra ki point to grant your attack more of the characteristics of a wave: you gain advantage on the attack, and on a hit the target must succeed on a strength save or be pushed back 10 feet.

Save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your wisdom modifier.

Ocean Assets

At 6th level you become more attuned to the ocean: barnacles or other shells/ carapaces grow on parts of your body. You gain a +2 bonus to AC, and your unarmed strikes deal extra damage equal to half your level. This bonus to damage applies to your Crashing Fists as well.

One with the Waves

At 11th level you learn how to channel ki into your entire body, giving it the consistency of water: as a reaction to taking damage you can cause your body to briefly become liquid, and you only take half damage from the triggering attack. If the triggering damage is piercing, such as that of a spear or a rapier, you instead take no damage. Immediately after taking this reaction you can spend 2 ki points to: immediately move up to half your speed, ignoring difficult terrain, or send a large wave to smash into the creature that damaged you: you can use your Crashing Fists as part of the reaction, and it has a 10 foot range.

Turn the Tides

At 17th level you've reached the pinnacle of the Crashing Wave tradition, and are now capable of tuning into the Ocean's power to turn the tides of battle in your favour. You can spend 4 ki points to grant yourself and all your allies advantage on attack rolls for 1 minute. Additionally, while this feature is active all your unarmed strikes have the effect and damage of your Crashing Fist technique without costing ki points.

Ocean Affinity

Crashing Wave monks are trained to be proficient in aquatic battle situations. At 3rd level when you choose this tradition you gain a swim speed equal to your walking speed and can breathe air and water.
