Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Collectors explore the farthest corners and deepest dungeons of the realm, dedicated to unearthing and understanding ancient relics. Specialized in surviving the dangers of long-abandoned places and uniquely exploiting the priceless items in their hoard, collectors are capable of both leading the charge to the places where relics are found and returning home safely to pick apart their mysteries.

Collector Magic

Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Collector Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of ranger spells you know.

Collector’s Hoard

3rd-level Collector feature

On your travels, you have learned a ritual which allows you to create a personal hoard - a pouch, backpack, or chest - where you can safely build up your collection of magic items and priceless trinkets. It functions as a bag of holding, except when it is destroyed, overloaded, or placed into another extradimensional space, it turns to dust and its contents spill out harmlessly into the closest available unoccupied spaces.

As a bonus action, you can summon your hoard. It appears immediately as long as it contains no creatures within it and it is on the same plane of existence as you. You choose whether it appears on your person or in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you.

If your hoard is destroyed or lost, you can perform a ritual on any nonmagical pouch, backpack, or chest during your next long rest to create a new one. When the ritual is complete, your previous hoard is destroyed if it still exists. Your hoard and any other items created by your collector class features turn to dust when you die.

Watchful Bond

3rd-level Collector feature

You possess the uncanny ability to locate and defend the most precious items in your hoard. When you place a weapon, tool, magic item, or trinket in your collector's hoard, you can form a watchful bond with it, which remains until you choose to end it (no action required) or until the item is destroyed. The maximum number of items you can bond to at once is equal to your proficiency bonus. This watchful bond grants you the following benefits:

  • You can cast locate object at will, targeting your hoard or any of your bonded items.
  • When you attack with a bonded weapon, you can use your Wisdom modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity modifier, for the attack and damage rolls. Once on each of your turns when you attack with a bonded weapon and hit, you can deal an extra 1d4 damage of the weapon's type to the target. The extra damage increases to 1d6 when you reach 11th level in this class.

Spell Weaving

7th-level Collector feature

When you use a magic item to cast or replicate the effects of a spell, you can weave your own magical power into the item, expending a spell slot of the same level or higher. The spell or effect then uses your ranger spell attack bonus and spell save DC, uses no material components (unless specified by the item), and is cast at the same level as the spell slot you used. If the item itself or any of its charges or features would be consumed, they are not consumed when you use this feature.

In addition, whenever you finish a long rest, you can choose two items from the Spell Weaving Items table to appear within your collector's hoard. These items instantly appear in your hoard with no consumed charges or used features, and all items previously created by this feature turn to dust. The two items you select must not be the same item.

Spell Weaving Items
Circlet of blasting
Ring of spell storing
Spell scroll, identify
Spell scroll, arcane lock
Wand of magic detection
Wand of magic missiles

Potion Rationing

11th-level Collector feature

Your extensive training in herblore and magical effects has led to a discovery on how to efficiently dilute potions. You gain proficiency with the herbalism kit if you are not already proficient with it. Provided you have access to a potion and an herbalism kit, you can spend 10 minutes to dilute it, consuming the original potion and creating two diluted potions with identical effects to the original. A diluted potion loses its effects after 8 hours unless it is consumed.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

In addition, whenever you finish a long rest, you can choose two items from the Potion Rationing Items table to appear within your collector's hoard. These items instantly appear in your hoard, and all items previously created by this feature turn to dust. The two items you select must not be the same item.

Potion Rationing Items
Potion of flying
Potion of gaseous form
Potion of healing, greater
Potion of heroism
Potion of water breathing

Everlasting Bond

15th-level Collector feature

Your watchful bond over your hoard and the items within it has improved to the point where you are inseparable. You learn two improved bond features of your choice. These features are detailed below.

Your improved bond features all expend a use of your Everlasting Bond. You have a number of uses equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Bold Retrieval

You can expend one use of Everlasting Bond to cast teleportation circle without expending a spell slot or material components. Rather than opening a portal to a permanent teleportation circle, the spell opens a portal to a bonded item of your choice.

Canny Resolve

As an action, you can expend one use of Everlasting Bond to gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier times the number of items you are bonded with, replacing any temporary hit points you already have.

Summon Item

As a bonus action, you can expend one use of Everlasting Bond to summon one bonded item of your choice. It appears immediately as long as it is on the same plane of existence as you. You choose whether it appears on your person or in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you.

Watchful Eye

You can expend one use of Everlasting Bond to cast scrying without expending a spell slot, using your hoard as the material component and targeting any of your bonded items. If the targeted item is being worn or carried by a creature, this spell targets that creature instead.
