Picked the shield and said "this fits me better,",  and so the path of protection was chosen and for that enjoy the abilities that come with it.

Impregnable Retaliation

Starting at the 3rd level, as a reaction move with the remaining speed left into the line of fire and fully absorb damage aimed towards an ally (damage taken in this can not be reduced in any way). Afterward, the next weapon attack will gain a bonus to hit equal to strength modifier 

This can be used a number of times equal to proficiency bonus per short rest.

Adaptive Bulwark

Starting at 7th level, while being flanked or completely surrounded by enemies gain a bonus to AC equal to half the number of enemies within the 10ft radius. You are no longer flanked by enemies. Lose half your movement speed while this is in effect.

Forceful Rampage

At 10th level, As one of your attack actions, brace yourself as you launch your body forward 15ft. Enemies caught in this rampage must succeed a Dexterity Saving Throw or become prone and when prone from this effect it takes all movement speed to recover.

Protective Barrier

Starting at the 15th level, gain the ability to create a barrier, this barrier moves with you, and allies within the barrier gain an AC boost based on your strength modifier. Allies must stay within the barrier to receive its effects the moment the barrier moves away or the ally moves out of the barrier the bonuses drop. The range of the barrier is a 15ft radius. This can be done 3 times per long rest.

Defense Matrix

At the pinnacle of the bastion unleash your greatest defense mechanism. At the 18th level, as a bonus action, evoke your own personal Defense Matrix. When activating gain 5 Temporary Hit Points Per Fighter level + 50, this acts as the matrix creating a layer around you. While the Matrix is active it creates a taunting effect. This causes enemies to gain advantage when making attacks against you. Additionally when in the defense matrix, impregnable retaliation gains a bonus of 30ft movement speed. Defense matrix last for a minute or until the Temporary Hit Points are removed.'

This can be used once per long rest.
