Base Class: Ranger
The Escaped Drow convict flees through the darken swamp lands eyes preyed on the horizon with fear, the sounds of pained breaths and muddy steps filled the environment around them.. They see naught behind them or ahead of them.. yet deep in the mud A giant serpent lunges out and confines the startled Drow, and crushed by its slow death like grasp seeing a Human slowly and methodically following their steps in the mud till their vision failed them.
Zipping through the skies like bolts of lightning a Giant Owl could be seen moving at incredible speeds far beyond that of it’s kind, mounted by a sole Gnomish Ranger who stuck at the enemies from above with Arrows and Magic!
“Charge my Brothers and Sisters! For the Crown!”
A Genasi cried out to his fellow brothers and sisters in arms leading a counter charge into the invading forces of the kingdom, a owlbear clad in Steel plate charging forth along side him to ravage any foe who would dare try and stop the beasts charge, a Magical shield protecting it and it’s Master.
They say the wilds are untamed and impossible to control, that only a foul could try to tame the beasts within.. they clearly never tried hard enough, or perhaps they never met you
cunning, agile or perhaps you prefer a more powerful brawnful approach to your situations, it never hurts to have a loyal steadfast ally whom will never abandon your wants and needs. The Beast Master Ranger is that of taking exotic and powerful creatures and growing a bond with them that is unique between them, using the animals natural agility to engage in dangerous Subterfuge or it’s natural strength to collapse a boulder in the path of a tsunami to prevent the village from being wiped out whatever the case you show the normality of civilization that you can adapt and overcome any obstacles in your way with your friends of the forest
Soul Beast
At 3rd level, you gain a Soul Beast companion that is a gift from Nature, a part of your very soul pulled out and manifested into a physical form, albeit very much ethereal in its presences. Choose a beast that is no larger than Medium and that has a challenge rating of 1/2 or lower. Add your proficiency bonus to the beast’s AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls, as well as to any saving throws and skills it is proficient in. Its hit point maximum equals the hit point number in its stat block or five times your ranger level, whichever is higher. Like any creature, it can spend Hit Dice during a short rest to regain hit points. This beast is referred to as your Soul Beast and is apart of your very soul, allowing you to understand its basic feelings and emotions as if they were your own, and as does your Companion do the same for you. Furthermore, when you desire to change the beasts physical manifestation shape you can change the shape of your beast to whatever you need to suit your needs by finishing a 2 hour long Ritual, so long as it follows the Size and CR rules that pertain to your Level.
The beast obeys your commands as best as it can. It takes its turn on your initiative. On your turn, you can verbally command the beast where to move (no action required by you). You can use your Bonus Action to verbally command it to take the Attack, Dash, Disengage, or Help action. If you don't issue a command, the beast takes the Dodge action. Once you have the Extra Attack feature, you can forgo one of your Attacks to have your Beast Companion use an Extra [action]Attack[/action.]
If you are incapacitated or absent, the beast acts on its own, focusing on protecting you and itself. The beast never requires your command to use its reaction, such as when making an opportunity attack.
While traveling through your favored terrain with only the Soul Beast or the terrain your Soul Beast's form is native to; I.E. a Scorpions Natural Habitat of a desert, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.
If your Soul Beast dies, its body is dissolved back into a magical essence and is absorbed back into your body, leaving behind a scar on your body, Players choice for Location, Size and Shape. You can gain a new Soul Beast by magically bonding yourself with a non-hostile beast, and performing a 6 hour Ritual. At the end of the ritual, the beast's physical form dies painlessly and becomes apart of nature, leaving behind its soul that is bonded to you, and becomes your Soul Beast.
As you reach Higher Levels your companion grows with you! Ranger levels 7/11/15/ increase the CR To 1/2/3/ respectively as well as allowing the size increase from medium to large at level 11
Symbiotic Souls
Beginning at 7th level, you gain the following abilities:
-Whenever either you or your Soul Beast take damage, and are within 5ft of each other, the other may use their reaction to take half the damage to themselves.
-Verbally commanding your Soul Beast to take the Dash, Disengage or Help action no longer requires a bonus action, and can now be done at any time during your turn (no action required). Note that commanding your beast still costs them their Action
-Whenever you make a skill check and have your Companion use the Help Action, you may use your companions modifier for the skill in place of your own, granted that it makes sense as as a bear cannot pick a lock and an owl cannot push a giant boulder (DM Discretion)
In addition, the Soul Beast's attacks now count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Wild Heart
Starting at 11th level you can tap into your Soul Beasts animalistic nature as a Bonus Action to further boost your own strength and gaining their special traits, like how Wolfs have Pact tactics and the ability to knock an enemy prone with attacks, Or how Owls Gain advantage on perception relaying on Sight or can attack and move without provoking opportunity attacks. (For instances where it specifically says your beast makes a Bite attack or Claw Attack after its feature, Like the Pounce Ability, it is DM's discretion for what attack you make Be it Unarmed, Weapon or whatever it may be that's available to you)These Bonuses last until the start of your next turn and you can use this ability Equal to your Wisdom Modifier (Minimum of +1) Regain all uses on a Short Rest or Long Rest.
Kindred Soul
Beginning at 15th level, whenever you are affected positively from a spell affect, your Primary Beast also benefits from the spells affects.
Additionally, when your Soul Bound Beast dies, you can use your Reaction to mend its soul and body brining it back to life with full HP but granting yourself a level of exhaustion.
Alternatively Should you die, your Soul Bound Beast can Sacrifice its life to restore yours bringing you back to half your maximum HP but it cannot be revived by anymeans short of a True Resurrection or a Wish Spell.
