Base Class: Fighter

The Warmongers are grandiose warriors who will not go unnoticed on the battlefield. Their weapon of choice is the Flamberge Greatsword, a two-handed sword that is as elegant as it is deadly. According to their beliefs, they were gifted a dark power named Corruption to weed out all liars and impostors of the world. Warmongers believe that war is the optimal outcome to all situations, allowing the weak to fall and the strong to prosper, resulting in a stronger and better world.

Implements of War

Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain the ability to modify your armour and weapon to suit your brutality If you have access to a longsword, heavy armour and smithing tools. You may spend 8 hours modifying them. Whilst you are wearing heavy armour and not wielding a shield, your modified equipment has the following properties.

  • Your gauntlets have claws. After making a successful melee attack, you may make an additional special melee attack. This attack deals 1d4 slashing damage. The damage dice changes to 1d6 at 5th level.
  • You may treat a longsword as if it were being held two handed whilst only holding it with one.

Grasp of Corruption

Starting at 7th level, when landing an attack with your clawed gauntlet, you may use your reaction to deal additional necrotic damage equal to your proficiency bonus. Once a creature receives this necrotic damage they become afflicted with corruption. A corrupted creature, if healed, only regains half of the total hitpoints from the source of healing, until the end of your next turn. The creature also gains disadvantage on deception checks for 1 hour.

In addition, when you land an attack with your clawed gauntlet, your next attack with a longsword gains advantage.

Wave of Corruption

At 10th level, when you inflict a creature with corruption, all creatures within 5 ft. of them (except you) also become afflicted. If a creature moves away from the affected creature, they remain corrupted until the end of your next turn. Taking the necrotic damage at the start of your turn.

Delight in Suffering

Starting at 15th level, when a creature within 30 ft. of you takes damage from corruption, you regain hitpoints equal to twice the damage dealt.

Avatar of War

At 18th level, you become an avatar of war. When corrupting an enemy, you may choose to spread this corruption. Select any visible creatures within 60 ft of you. These creatures become corrupted and immediately take necrotic damage equal to twice your proficiency bonus. In addition to this, these creatures remain corrupted until they succeed on a constitution save of 20. While corrupted these creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls made towards you as well and become hostile to any creature within 5 ft. of them. If the creature they are hostile towards was an ally, they have advantage on attack rolls against them. You also regain hitpoints equal to the damage that a hostile creature deals to a corrupted creature.
