Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

A Pact of the Angel’s Blade was first made when the first mortal beheld an angel that was sent to the material plane to check on the state of existence. Even though the pact of an Angel’s Blade is made with a primarily good aligned being, no one can truly know the long term wishes of one of the divine. Sometimes referred to as “Holy Hexblades” the Angel’s Blade are the enforcers of an angel, or another powerful celestial, to act as a gatherer of information or sometimes strike from the shadows that the angels are unable to hide in. Angel’s Blade warlocks cover their armor with holy signs and sigils of their patron, or remain as unmarked as possible to try to keep attention from them. Beings powerful enough to create a pact of the Angel’s Blade include Planetars, Solars, Ki-Rin, and even especially powerful Unicorns.

Angel's Mark

Starting at first level, you gain the ability to place a divine mark upon a someone. As a bonus action, choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target is marked for one minuet. The Mark is lifted early if the target dies, you die, or you are incapacitated. Until the mark is lifted, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a bonus to damage rolls against the marked target. The bonus equals to your proficiency bonus

  • Any attack roll you make against the marked target is a critical hit on a roll of a 19 or 20 on the d20.

  • If the marked target dies, you regain hit points equal to your warlock level+ your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1 hit point).

Once you use this feature you can not do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Angelic Warrior

At first level, you acquire the training you need to carry out your patrons will. You gain proficiency with medium armor, one handed martial weapons, shields and the insight skill.

The Influence of your patron also allows you to mystically channel your will through a particular weapon. Whenever you finish a long rest you may spend a moment to touch a weapon that you are proficient with. When you attack with that weapon you may use your charisma modifier instead of your strength or dexterity modifier, for the attack and damage rolls. This effect lasts until you finish a long rest. If you later gain the pack of the blade feature this benefit extends to every pact weapon you conjure with that feature, no matter the weapon’s type.

Spell Transubstantiation

At first level you may select a damage dealing cantrip you know, the selected spell deals radiant damage instead of its normal type. Whenever you gain a warlock level you may change the selected cantrip to a different cantrip you know.

Heaven Denied

Starting at sixth level, you can bind the soul of a person you slay, temporarily binding it to your service. When you slay a humanoid, you can cause its soul to rise from its body to do one of two things:

  • You may have its soul rise as an Indentured Spirit, the statistics of which are in the Guild Masters Guide to Ravnica. Roll initiative for the Indentured Spirit, which has its own turns. It obeys your verbal commands, and gains a bonus to attack rolls equal to your charisma modifier.

  • You can give a creature other than yourself you can see within 30 feet of you and grant the target a number of temporary hit points equal to your charisma modifier plus a number of d6 equal to your proficiency bonus.

You are able to use each of the options once per long rest and unless the Indentured Spirit is slain, or the temporary hit points are used up the effects last until the end of your next long rest at which point the trapped soul is released to its afterlife.

Angel’s Embrace

Starting at tenth level, when the target of your Angel’s Mark hits you with an attack roll, you can use your reaction to roll a d6. On a roll of a 4 or higher you pull a mote of the soul from the marked creature. The marked creature takes 1d8 plus your charisma mod points of radiant damage and you grant a target, other than yourself, that you can see within 60 feet of you temporary hit points equal to the damage dealt to the marked creature.

Divine Transference

Starting at 14 level you can spread your Angel’s Mark from a slain creature to an other. When the creature marked by your Angel’s Mark dies, you can apply the mark to a different creature you can see within 30 feet of the original, provided you aren’t incapacitated. When you choose a new target you may choose for the mark to effect the new target the same as the original, or you can cause the new target to gain temporary hit points equal to 5 times your charisma modifier (minimum of 5 hit points). When you move your mark in this way you do not regain hit points from your Angel’s Mark feature.
