Base Class: Monk

     As a practitioner of this tradition, you have studied the ways of this illusive creature. Through you dedicated and observant training you have unlocked the secrets of turning your inner ki into something deadly... Lightning. Way of the Electric Eel monks are a tempest, fast and decisive on the battle field, ruthless with the damage they inflict on the battle field. You have access to spells and physical attributes that help you keep up with the wild and fast element that is lightning Making you a true force to be reckoned with on the battle field. You also gain immunity to lightning and thunder damage. Additionally you gain awareness to the area around you allowing you to react exceptionally quick. You gain +2 to your dexterity modifier when calculating your initiative bonus.

When using the powers of this Monastic Tradition, your eyes and tattoos glow with electricity.

 

Electric Veins

At 3rd level, The Ki that flows through your veins has become electric, enhancing your muscles and body capabilities. This provides the following enhancements to your martial arts:

  • Electric Dash: When you use your Step of the Wind to dash you are capable of moving through opponents spaces dealing 2d6 lightning damage damage to each opponent you move through. You can only deal damage to each opponent in this way once per turn.
  • Lightning Reflexes: While you're using Patient Defense, if an enemy within 5 ft. of you makes a melee attack against you, you may use your reaction to make one Unarmed Strike against them. 
  • Rain of Lightning: When you successfully make an attack with your Flurry of Blows, you may choose to either deal lightning or Thunder damage instead of Bludgeoning Damage.
  • Electric Armor: Once per combat, for 1 minute, the electricity flowing through your Veins overs you in a shroud of electricity that deals 2d6 Lightning Damage to any opponent that strikes you with a melee attack.

Electric Serpent

At 6th Level, You create a bolt of lightning in the shape of an Eel that arcs toward a target of your choice that you can see within range. Three Eel bolts then leap from that target to as many as three other Targets, each of which must be within 30 feet of the first target. A target can be a creature or an object and can be targeted by only one of the bolts.


A target must make a Dexterity saving throw. The target takes 5d8 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, one additional bolt leaps from the first target to another target for each slot level above 6th.

Jaws of Lightning

At 11th level you use the Culminating power of your training thus far to summon a truly devastating display of power by expending 3 Ki points to produce a Lightning Bolt in the shape of a Winding Eel through your Opponents without requiring components causing 8d8 lightning damage or 5 Ki points to cause 10d8 lightning damage.

Lightning Bolt: A stroke of lightning forming a line of 100 feet long and 5 feet wide blasts out from you in a direction you choose. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 8d8 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

The lightning ignites flammable Objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th Level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot above 3rd.

Full Body Conduit

At 17th Level, your body has become a battery and conduit for Lightning. You feel it rushing through your veins at any given moment. You are capable of unleashing the full potential of your strength as a bonus action by expending 5 Ki points and undergoing a transformation as your body becomes shrouded by electricity.

  • You gain the benefits of your Step of the Wind and Electric Dash for the duration.
  • You gain an additional attack.
  • You gain flight speed equal to your movement speed.
  • If an opponent starts their turn within 5ft. of you they take Lightning Damage equal to half your monk level, rounded down.

This transformation lasts a minute. After it is complete you gain 1 point of exhaustion. you regain this ability after a long rest.
