Monk
Base Class: Monk

You follow a monastic tradition that teaches you to harness the power of the storms. When you focus your ki, you can have the electrical energy in the air flow through you, using it as an extension of your body.

Electrical Imbuement

Starting at 3rd level, you have gained the ability to harness your enemy's ki and convert it into potent electrical energy. Whenever you successfully hit a creature with an attack, you can choose to mark them with an electrical imbuement. A marked creature can have multiple imbuements, but you can only maintain a number of imbuements equal to your proficiency modifier.

Electrical Surge (Action)

As an action, you can unleash the stored electrical energy within marked creatures. Each creature with an imbuement must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes lightning damage equal to 1d4 for each imbuement on them and is unable to take reactions until the end of their next turn. On a successful save, the creature takes half damage.

The damage dice for your Electrical Imbuements increase as you gain levels in this subclass. At 5th level, the damage increases to 1d6 lightning damage, at 11th level it increases to 1d8 lightning damage, and at 17th level, it increases to 1d10 lightning damage.

A Storms Path

At 6th level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast shatter, misty step, without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the shocking grasp cantrip if you don’t already know it.

Shocking Presence

At 11th level, your mastery over electrical energy extends beyond your enemies, allowing you to imbue your own body with electrifying power. Whenever a creature misses a melee attack against you, they gain an additional electrical imbuement.

Furthermore, your newfound expertise in manipulating electrical energy increases your maximum number of electrical imbuements. It is now equal to twice your proficiency modifier.

Lightning's Wrath

At 17th level, you reach the pinnacle of your electric mastery, unlocking the ability to unleash the storm within you. As an action, you can tap into your immense power, surrounding yourself with a swirling torrent of electrical energy that lasts for one minute or until you choose to deactivate it. During this time, your speed increases, and you radiate a brilliant aura of electricity.

Upon activating this form, each creature within a 15-foot radius of you must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, they are blinded until the end of their next turn.

While in this electrified form, you gain the following effects:

  • Your AC is increased by +2.
  • You gain resistance to all non-magical slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning damage.
  • All attacks made against you are made with advantage.
