Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Weave follow a tradition which seeks to explore the mysteries of the Weave. They may be called weavers or threaders, in reference to the way that they pull on strings of the Weave. Originally, this monastic order was a single, cohesive group of learners who coupled their learning with worship of Shar. However, with time, this group splintered and the worship of Shar faded, leaving behind several groups who explore gestural magic and their place in the Weave. Regardless of the group from whom they've learned, they remain skilled combatants and effective spellcasters.
Spellcasting
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your learnings to cast spells through gestures that pull on threads of the Weave. You may cast spells from the following list by spending 1 ki point per spell level (cantrips require no ki points). As you gain levels, you gain access to more spells.
For these spells, DEX is your spell-casting ability.
| Required Level | Spell Name |
| 3 | control flames |
| 3 | mold earth |
| 3 | shape water |
| 3 | thunderclap |
| 3 | true strike |
| 3 | absorb elements |
| 3 | catapult |
| 6 | beast sense |
| 6 | mind spike |
| 6 | counterspell |
| 11 | mislead |
| 11 | mental prison |
Stitch Pulling
At 6th level, your prowess with manipulating the Weave grows. You've learned to alter your handshape as you cast spells to create effects akin to the Metamagic of Sorcerors. You select two of the following and choose an additional one at 11th level and 17th level.
Distant Spell
When you cast a spell that has a range of 5 feet or greater, you can spend 1 ki point to double the range of the spell. When you cast a spell that has a range of touch, you can spend 1 ki point to make the range of the spell 30 feet.
Empowered Spell
When you roll damage for a spell, you can spend 1 ki point to reroll a number of the damage dice up to your Dexterity modifier (minimum of one). You must use the new rolls. You can use Empowered Spell even if you have already used a different Metamagic option during the casting of the spell.
Extended Spell
When you cast a spell that has a duration of 1 minute or longer, you can spend 1 ki point to double its duration, to a maximum duration of 24 hours.
Heightened Spell
When you cast a spell that forces a creature to make a saving throw to resist its effects, you can spend 3 ki points to give one target of the spell disadvantage on its first saving throw made against the spell.
Quickened Spell
When you cast a spell that has a casting time of 1 action, you can spend 2 ki points to change the casting time to 1 bonus action for this casting.
Reshaped Spell
When you cast a spell with a specific shape (cone, sphere, etc), you may spend 1 ki point to change the shape that the spell takes.
Twinned Spell
When you cast a spell that targets only one creature and doesn’t have a range of self, you can spend a number of ki points equal to the spell’s level to target a second creature in range with the same spell (1 ki point if the spell is a cantrip). To be eligible, a spell must be incapable of targeting more than one creature at the spell’s current level. For example, magic missile and scorching ray aren’t eligible, but ray of frost and chromatic orb are.
Magical Muscle Memory
At 11th level, you exposure to the casting methods of other arcane spell-casters has taught you much and you've learned to adapt their magic to your own. You learn one 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th level spell from the Wizard spell list. The spells must have somatic components and any verbal or material components are ignored to cast them.
Additionally, you've improved upon your Deflect Missiles feature. You can use your reaction to deflect or catch the projectile of a ranged spell attack when you are hit by one. When you do so, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your monk level. If you reduce the damage to 0, you can redirect the projectile by manipulating the Weave. If you redirect a spell in this way, you can spend 2 ki point to make a ranged spell attack with the spell as part of the same reaction. You make this attack with proficiency and the spell counts as a monk spell for the attack, which has a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet.
Weave Distortion
At 17th level, you have perfected your methods for impacting the Weave. You may spend an action to create a distortion in the Weave, interrupting the flow of magic in a 60ft sphere around you. This counts as an antimagic area, causing all spells, arcane or divine, in an area to fail. This effect lasts for 12 hours or until you decide to spend 10 minutes repairing the Weave.
Once used, this feature cannot be used again until you've taken a long rest.
