Base Class: Wizard
The school of bestial binding seeks to learn about the nature of monstrosities, wild animals and beasts as well as how to utilize their feral instincts. The wizards who study under this arcane tradition believe that the natural world can be understood through practical, scientific means and that the great wilds are just as worthy of study as magic is. The primal is beautiful, ineffable, and most importantly, controllable.
Primal Study
You gain access to the Primal Savagery cantrip and gain expertise in the Animal Handling skill.
Bestial Codex
You have gained access to a bestiary that can act as your spellbook if you so choose. The bestiary contains descriptions of vile monsters and provides you with secret knowledge about how to bind them to your service.
As an action, you can bind the soul of a monster that has died within 30ft of you within the pages of your bestiary. Your bestiary can have a number of souls bound to it equal to your Proficiency Bonus. As an action, you can summon the soul of one of the bound monsters to fight for you and have it appear within a 30ft radius of you. This summoning requires you to hold concentration as you would a spell, and you must make concentration checks when you take damage. You can maintain concentration on keeping a monster summoned for an amount of hours equal to your Intelligence modifier. However, if you drop concentration willingly or unwillingly, the beast turns against you and your allies and you cannot rebind it to your bestiary. The maximum CR monster you can bind is equal to your wizard level halved, and you can only bind Beasts and Monstrosities.
The summoned monster acts on your initiative, and you must use your bonus action to command it. You can command it to take either the attack, dash, or dodge action. If you do not use your bonus action to command it, the beast does nothing.
When you bind a soul to your bestiary, you immediately learn every trait about the monster and gain access to its stat block.
If you wish to recall a summoned monster into your bestiary, you may do so as an action if it still has Hit Points left. If the monster is reduced to 0 HP, its soul is lost and cannot be bound back into your book.
Savagery Savant
Any soul you summon now can use your spell attack modifier when it takes the attack action and add your Intelligence modifier to the damage dealt. Additionally, if you regain HP or gain temporary HP while a beast is summoned, those effects apply to the summoned beast as well.
Tome of Claw and Fang
When you summon a monster, you gain the benefits of one of the summoned monster’s special traits. For example, if the summoned monster is resistant to acid damage, you can become resistant to acid damage while you are holding concentration on the soul.
Additionally, your extensive knowledge of beasts and impressive mastery of their souls allows you to roll checks to maintain concentration on summoned beasts with advantage.
Feral Spell Work
You are the harbinger of beasts and have become the intellectual master of all that is primal and wild. Now, you can summon two bound souls at once when you take the Summon Bestial Soul action. When you take this action on your turn, you can then cast any prepared wizard spell of 2nd level or lower as a bonus action.
