Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Those who undertake the mantle of Swordsworn do so for many reasons. Some swear themselves to loved ones and friends seeking to protect them at all costs. Others travel the lands  protecting those that need it most -- for a price. Regardless of the motives, to become Swordsworn is to share a bond with those they seek to protect, emboldening them in times of need and punishing those who seek to harm them. This bond allows the Fighter to sense and shoulder the burdens of their bonded.

Kindred Bond

3rd-level Swordsworn feature

You may bind yourself to any willing friendly creature over the course of a short rest. If the short rest is interrupted, the binding attempt fails. You can only have one Kindred Bond active at a time.

While you have an active Kindred Bond, you gain the following benefits:

  • Once per round, when you make an attack roll against a creature that has dealt damage to your bound ally last you have advantage on the attack.
  • You are always aware of the emotional state of your bound ally as long as they are within 1000ft of you.

If your ally dies while Kindred Bond is active, you are unable to re-bind yourself to another creature for 1d4 days. During this time, you may add 1/3 your fighter level rounded up to damage rolls with weapons you are proficient with.

Sworn to Protect

3rd-level Swordsworn feature

When your bound ally takes damage within 30ft of you and your aren't incapacitated, you may use your reaction to redirect the damage to yourself.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Healing Bond

7th-level Swordsworn feature

When you use your Second Wind, you may now add your constitution modifier to the amount of health recovered. Additionally, when using Second Wind you may distribute the amount of health recovered between your bound ally and yourself within 60ft.

Starting at level 15, the amount healed by second wind gains an additional 1d10.

Amplified Bond

10th-level Swordsworn feature

Your bond with your ally grows deeper. When you bind yourself to an ally, you may select one of the following effects to apply for the duration of your bond. If bound to an ally with Kindred Bond, you may change the bond to another effect during the course of a short rest without needing to break the bond.

Maneuver.
When you or your bonded ally take the dash action on their turn, the other may immediately move their movement speed, this movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
You can use this effect twice per short rest.

Wrath.
On your turn as a bonus action, you allow your bonded ally to immediately make an attack on any target they could normally target.
You can use this effect three times per long rest.

Versatility.
You gain one extra use of indomitable.
Additionally, you may expend a charge of Indomitable to allow your ally to reroll their failed saving throw.

Foe Punisher

15th-level Swordsworn feature

When you use Sworn to Protect to redirect damage from your ally to yourself you may reduce the damage you receive by 1/2 rounded down. Additionally,  When you take damage as a result of Sworn to Protect, you may inflict the damage you receive onto the attacking creature as long as your are within 30ft of the creature.

Unyielding Bond

18th-level Swordsworn feature

When you take damage that reduces you to 0 hit points and doesn’t kill you outright you may immediately invoke Second Wind even if you have no uses remaining. This effect may only occur once per long rest.

Additionally, When you take damage that reduces you to 0 hit points and doesn’t kill you outright, if your ally is above half health, you can’t fall unconscious for 1 minute. If at any time during this direction, if your ally falls below half health, you immediately fall unconscious. Once the duration has ended, if you are still below zero hit points you immediately fall unconscious.

You must still make death saving throws when you normally would. If you are still conscious after succeeding three death saving throws, you may set your health to 1.
