Base Class: Ranger
Rangers of the Storm Speakers give voice to the storms that rage across the surface of the world. They seek to understand, commune, and revel in the glory of the unyielding tempest. Some thrive on the thrill of the storm while others guide and ward others from their wrath.
Stormborn
At 3rd level, you form a primal connection to the majesty of storms. You know the thaumaturgy cantrip. When you cast this spell while you are in the midst of a storm, you can cause your voice to boom audibly up to 1,000 feet away.
Additionally, strong winds, rain, and other stormy conditions cannot impose disadvantage on your weapon attacks or Wisdom (Perception) checks.
Voice of Thunder
At 3rd level, you can channel a storm’s fury into your attacks. When you hit a creature with a weapon attack on your turn, you can choose to either deal an extra 1d6 lightning damage to it, or push it up to 10 feet away from you unless it succeeds on a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. You can deal this extra damage only once per turn.
Cyclone Step
By 7th level, you learn to follow the path of the storm. As a bonus action, you can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see, briefly leaving behind a small cyclone. Each Large or smaller creature of your choice within 15 feet of the space you left must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC or be pulled to that space. You can teleport this way a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Surge of Lightning
At 11th level, your Voice of Thunder feature swells in power. The extra damage you deal increases to 1d8. Whenever you deal this extra lightning damage to a target, you also deal 1d4 thunder damage to each creature of your choice within 10 feet of the original target.
Mighty Tempest
Starting at 15th level, you cannot be grappled, restrained, or knocked prone.
Additionally, whenever you take damage, you can use your reaction to shield yourself with a storm. You can roll a d10 and reduce the damage you take by that amount, to a minimum of 0. If lightning or thunder damage triggered this reaction, you can redirect damage of the respective type to creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you. Each target takes damage equal to the roll.
