Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

For rangers who grew up or trained near marshes or wetlands, there are some who find a natural kinship with the frogs and toads who make homes of these moist environments. These rangers take on some of the characteristics of these animals, and use it to protect these environments from predators or people who could threaten the local ecosystem.

Great Leap

At 3rd level, you have taken on the feature of the powerful hind legs of frogs, which allows them to leap forward large distances. As a bonus action, you can jump a number of feet equal to your walking speed. This leap does not provoke opportunity attacks. If you make a melee attack immediately after you jump, that attack has advantage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and you regain all used when you finish a long rest

Predatory Grapple

At 3rd level, you have taken on the feature of a frog’s powerful grapple, which can manifest in one of two ways. Choose one of the options below and gain that benefit:

Crushing Grab

Whenever you successfully grapple a creature, you deal 1d6 + your proficiency bonus bludgeoning damage as you begin crushing the creature. Additionally, at the end of each of the creature’s turn if it is still grappled it takes additional damage equal to 1d6 + your proficiency bonus

Launching Tongue

Whenever you attempt to grapple a creature, you can do so from up to 30 feet away using a long, pseudopod-like tongue which manifests in your mouth. If you grapple a creature this way you do not have to have a hand free. You can attempt to grapple a creature this way a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus

Toxic Skin

At 7th level some portions of your skin begins to secrete a dangerous toxin for predators. When a creature successfully hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to force the creature to make a constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is poisoned and incapacitated for 1 minute, and they can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns. On a successful stage, the creature is still poisoned. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest

Improved Predation

At 11th level you have become even more adept at using your frog features. If you attempt to grapple another creature immediately after using your great leap, you have advantage on the athletics check. In addition, you can attempt to grapple creatures as though you were one size larger and you gain an additional benefit depending on your type of predatory grapple:

Crushing Grab

You gain the ability to use your bonus action to make a bite attack against a creature you have grappled. It acts like an unarmed strike when you hit with it you deal 1d6 + your strength modifier bludgeoning damage. This attack ignores resistance or immunity you would usually suffer from nonmagical attacks.

Launching Tongue

After grappling a creature with the tongue, you can move the creature in a straight line up to 30 feet closer to you.

Swallow Whole

At 15th level, you can temporarily banish creatures to a pocket dimension by consuming them. As an attack, make a contest grapple test against a creature you have grappled that is your size or smaller. If you succeed, you swallow the creature, transporting them to a pocket dimension that exists within your mouth for 1 minute. You can only hold one creature at a time within this dimension, and when you take damage you must make a constitution saving throw versus a dc equal to half the damage taken or regurgitate the creature, ending the effect early. You can attempt to use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
