Base Class: Monk
All magic depends on the Weave, though different kinds of magic access it in a variety of ways. Through meditation and training Monks of the Way of the Esoteric Weaver learn to channel their Ki into the Weave of magic. They are masters at manipulating this interface, making it inaccessible to those they deem unworthy to wield.
Bonus Proficiency
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you also become proficient in Arcana and gain expertise in Perception.
Distortion Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your Ki to distort the Weave of magic around your target. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, they have disadvantage on CON saving throws to maintain concentration on a spell or effect until the start of your next turn. Additionally, the DC for these saving throws becomes your Ki save DC or half the damage, whichever number is higher.
Deflect Spell
Starting at 3rd level, you can use your reaction to deflect a spell when you are hit by a spell attack. When you do so, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + your Wisdom modifier + your monk level.
Interrupting Strike
At 6th level, you learn the ability to interrupt a spellcasters' access to the Weave. When a creature within 5 feet of you casts a spell, you may use your reaction to interrupt the process of casting the spell. If the creature is casting a spell of 3rd level or lower, its spell fails and has no effect. If it is casting a spell of 4th level or higher, make an ability check using your Wisdom ability score. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a success, the creature's spell fails and has no effect. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
Ki Projection. You may spend 1 Ki point to increase the range of this effect to 30ft.
Tranquil Touch
At 6th level you use your Ki to smooth the Weave of magic around your target. As an action, you can touch a creature to end a magical effect on them or an effect created by an object they are holding. Any spell of 3rd level or lower on the target ends. For each spell of 4th level or higher on the target, make an ability check using your Wisdom ability score. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a successful check, the spell ends. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain all expended uses at the end of a short rest.
Ki Projection. You may spend 1 Ki point to increase the range of this effect to 30ft.
Energy Transfer Technique
Starting at 6th level, you learn how to manipulate energy from the Weave, gaining the following benefits.
Ki Siphon. Whenever you end a magical effect with Tranquil Touch regain Ki points equal to the level of spell that was ended (minimum of 1).
Energized Strike. Whenever you prevent a spell cast with Interrupting Strike your next successful unarmed strike deals a number of d6 equal to the spells level in force damage (minimum of 1).
The damage die of Energized Strike increases to d8 at 11th level and to d10 at 17th level.
Esoteric Mastery
Starting at 11th level, when you make an ability check using Tranquil Touch or Interrupting Strike, you add your proficiency bonus to that ability check.
Distortion Master
At 11th level you've mastered Distortion Technique. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you inhibit their access to the Weave of magic until the start of your next turn. If the creature attempts to cast a spell higher than a cantrip before this effect ends, it must make a spellcasting ability check or the spell fails and the slot is consumed. The DC equals your Ki save DC + the spell's level. On a successful check, the spell acts as normal.
Recharge. Whenever a spell fails to cast due to Distortion Technique regain a use of Interrupting Strike.
Spell Weaver
At 17th level, as an action enter a heightened vision state for 1 minute, allowing you to see the Weave of magic in a 90-foot-radius sphere around you. Until the effect ends, the sphere moves with you, centered on you. Using your reaction, spend 2 Ki points to manipulate the Weave of a spell cast within the sphere. The effect ends early if you choose (no action required), become incapacitated, die, or run out of Ki points. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest. The Weave can be manipulated in the following manner.
Twist. Twist an additional thread of the Weave into the spell, duplicating the spell on the same target.
Tear. Tear the threads of the Weave during the casting of the spell causing the spell to backfire. The spellcaster and any creature within 5ft must make a DEX saving throw, against the casters spell save DC. Taking a number of d10 rolls equal to the spells level in force damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Fold. Fold the Weave during casting affecting the duration of the spell. Folding inward, double the duration. Folding outward, halve the duration.
Rearrange. Arrange the Weave in a new order sustaining the spell for 1 minute without the need for concentration.
