Base Class: Sorcerer
The nature of a Sweet Dream makes sorcerers of this ken rare. Often childish in nature, they bring their wishes to life in the form of sugary delicacies and endearing charms.
This subclass is shared with the Cleric and Warlock, each of which share many - but not all - of the same features. You can choose the subclass only once, even if you multiclass into another class that is also compatible with the subclass.
This subclass was created as part of the Subclasseptember 2022 challenge!
Sweet Dream Magic
You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Sweet Dream Spells table.
Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of spells you know.
(For legal reasons, Nathair's Mischief and Aura of Purity cannot be added to the spell list. See the feat "DNDBeyond Won't Let Me Create Illegal Spell Lists" for a workaround.)
Sweet Dream Spells
| Class Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | color spray, longstrider, prestidigitation (only the ability to chill, warm, and flavor nonliving material) |
| 3rd | |
| 5th | create food and water, haste |
| 7th | |
| 9th | dream, hallow |
Sugar Rush
Also at 1st level, the Sweet Dream grants you seemingly boundless energy, flooding your body with a rush. As a bonus action, you can move up to half your movement speed. Afterwards, creatures of your choice within 10 feet of yourself gain temporary hit points equal to 1d10 plus your class level plus your spellcasting ability modifier.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Sweeten the Deal
You’ve learned that a little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down. When a creature within 30 feet of yourself makes a saving throw while you have 5 or more temporary hit points, you can expend your reaction and 5 of your temporary hit points to force the creature to reroll the saving throw. You make this decision after you see whether the roll succeeds or fails. The target must use the result of the second roll.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest. If you have the Channel Divinity feature, you can expend a use of it to regain a use of this feature.
Lingering Sweetness
You don’t have time to feel bad when things go wrong; just move along and forget about it! When you fail a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration on a spell, you can use your reaction to cast a spell of 5th level or lower with a casting time of 1 action.
Promised Wonderland
You can cast the mirage arcane spell without expending a spell slot. When you do so, the casting time is reduced to 1 action. In addition, the terrain created by the illusion becomes made of cakes, pastries, and other desserts. This illusion includes gustatory elements in addition to the usual visual, auditory, tactile, and olfactory elements.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
