Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Rogues who embrace the Nightstalker path dont just work in the Shadows, they become a part of them. Nightstalkers have developed a deep connection to the Shadowfell that allows them to remain unseen and enter places in ways that more conventional methods might prevent.

Nightstalkers tend to be secretive, mistrusted by otehr rogues and even employers that see the Nightstalker's connection to the Shadowfell as some sort of dark pact to be mistrusted.

As a Nightstalker, you view your connection to the Shadowfell as a means to an end. Ultimately the Nightstalker's connection to their power is a personal one, often Nightstalkers are set on their path by tragedy or grief, and rarely do they take on an apprentice to share in the way of shadows.

Shadowfell Connection

3rd-level Nightstalker feature

You harbor a resivoir of the Shadowfell within yourself. This energy is represented by your Shadowfell dice, which are each a d6. You have a number of these dice equal to twice your proficiency bonus, and they fuel various Shadowfell powers you have, which are detailed below.

Some of your powers expend the Shadowfell die they use, as specified in a power’s description, and you can’t use a power if it requires you to use a die when your dice are all expended. You regain all your expended Shadowfell dice when you finish a long rest. In addition, as a bonus action, you can regain one expended Shadowfell die, but you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

When you reach certain levels in this class, the size of your Shadow dice increases: at 5th level (d8), 11th level (d10), and 17th level (d12). The powers below use your Shadowfel dice.

Veil of Shadows. A veil of shadows and silence radiates from you, masking you from detection. Expend one Shadowfell die, add a bonus to your stealth check equal to the amount rolled.

Leap of Shadows

3rd-level Nightstalker feature

As a bonus action you slide into the Shadowfell, appearing at a different location. Until the end of your next turn you have light concealment. Expend a Shadowfell die, the distance you travel is equal to your proficiency modifer multiplied by 10 feet. You may expend an additional Shadowfell die to increase the distance travelled by the amount rolled on the die multiplied by 10 feet. (Ex Using the ability at 5th level you have a proficiency modifer of 3, and roll a 2 the distance travelled with your Leap of Shadows is 50 feet). For each die expelled in this way, you may teleport up to one additonal willing creature. If you make an attack roll the same round you use Leap of Shadows you have advantage on the attack roll. Additional creatures you teleport with you as part of your Leap of Shadows are not granted the same benefit.

The first time you use this power after each long rest, you don’t expend the Shadowfell die. All other times you use the power, you expend the die.

Pierce the Veil

9th-level Nightstalker feature

You expend a Shadowfel die. For one hour you can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 90 feet.

Shadowmastery

13th-level Nightstalker feature

Once per turn, when an attack would hit your or you would take damage from a spell requiring a reflex saving throw, you can expend a Shadowfel die to use your Leap of Shadows as a reaction taking no damage and appearing in a space up to 30 feet from your original position.

Darkveil

17th-level Nightstalker feature

As an action, you cast the spell Invisibility on yourself without the need for material components. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend two Shadowfell dice to use it again.
