Base Class: Paladin
The Deathlord is a creature of living death. Their actions in their lives before lead to their sacred Paladin's oath being broken or unresolved, but their force of will was strong enough to overcome the thin veil between this world and the next. Most often, a Powerful Being sought them out as a champion, raised them into undeath and bound their essence to the Paladin. The Deathlord is stripped of their mortal soul and memories, in order to serve the Powerful Being that raised them completely and without question. This domination of the Paladin is suffering refined to it's very essence. The need to gain their own volition leads them to manifest a new soul, one not bound by the sins and struggles of their mortal coil or the will of the Being that raised them, but one shaped of their new living death, of total free will.

Profane Channeling
3rd-level Deathlord feature
After you are raised into undeath at or above 3rd level, you gain the following two Profane Channeling options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity (Profane Channeling) works.
Death's Presence. You can use your Profane Channeling to exude a terrifying presence. As an action, you can choose a number of creatures equal to your Charisma modifier, for the next hour they have advantage on any death saving throws they make. If you choose a dying creature, you can make it stable.
Unholy Strike. You can use your Profane Channeling to strike with the profane power of death. When you make an attack roll, you can use your Channel Divinity to infuse your weapon attack with dark power dealing 4d8 necrotic damage, and healing you for half the necrotic damage you dealt.
Aura of Death
7th-level Deathlord feature
Starting at 7th level, you constantly emanate a deathly aura while you’re not incapacitated. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover.
If a creature is within the aura and takes necrotic damage, its speed is reduced to half while in the aura, and that creature takes necrotic damage equal to half your paladin level if it starts its turn there. If a creature is defeated within the aura, you can use a reaction to move up to half of your speed at either another hostile creature without provoking opportunity attacks.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Deathbound Fortitude
15th-level Deathlord feature
Starting at 15th level, when you reach 0 hit points you do not fall unconscious, but instead keep on fighting, as death cannot die. You take damage as normal and make death saves with advantage if hit with an attack as normal. When you reach 3 failed death saving throws, you die, again.
Lord of Death
At 20th level, you gain the ability to harness the power of death. As an action, you can magically become an avatar of Death, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- You have resistance to all damage.
- When you deal Necrotic damage, it's damage die is one larger (e.g. 1d8 becomes 1d10, etc.)
- If you force a creature to make a saving through to take half damage from an effect that deals Necrotic damage, the creature has disadvantage, and you gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
