Base Class: Monk
Hummingbird monks utilize bursts of speed and power on the battlefield, blasting in and out of combat to wreak havoc on their enemies and retreating before they can react.
Some abilities allow you to cast spells. You can spend additional ki points to increase the level of a spell that you can cast, provided that the spell has an enhanced effect at a higher level. The spell's level increases by 1 for each additional ki point you spend. The maximum number of ki points you can spend to cast a spell in this way (including its base ki point cost and any additional ki points you spend to increase its level) is equal to your proficiency bonus.
Touch of the Hummingbird
At 3rd level, you harness the wind of a hummingbird's wings to make powerful attacks. You gain the following abilities:
Strike of Unbroken Air
You can create a blast of compressed air that strikes like a mighty fist. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point and choose a creature within 30 feet of you. That creature must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 3d10 bludgeoning damage, plus an extra 1d10 bludgeoning damage for each additional ki point you spend, and you can push the creature up to 20 feet away from you and knock it prone.
On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage, and you don't push it or knock it prone.
At 6th level, this ability no longer costs an initial ki point, and ki is only needed to increase its damage level.
Strike of Thunder
You can clap your hands together to create a burst of thunder. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to cast Thunderwave with only somatic components.
At 6th level, this ability no longer costs an initial ki point, and ki is only needed to increase its damage level.
Speed of the Hummingbird
At 6th level, you harness the speed and grace of a hummingbird to move swiftly across the battlefield. You gain the following abilities:
Blur of Speed
When you take Step of the Wind, you cause yourself to be invisible during any of your movement during your current turn. You then gain advantage on the first melee attack you make at the end of your movement that turn.
Migration
As a bonus action for 1 ki point, you can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see and then move up to half your speed. At the end of your turn, you can teleport back to the spot you occupied before teleporting, unless it is now occupied or on a different plane of existence.
At 11th level, this ability no longer costs a ki point.
Spirit of the Hummingbird
Beginning at 11th level, you further harness the power of the hummingbird. You gain the following abilities:
Dazzle
When you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction for 1 ki point to add your proficiency bonus to your AC for that attack, possibly turning it into a miss. After the attack, you can then teleport up to 20 feet to an unoccupied space you can see as part of that reaction.
At 17th level, this ability no longer costs a ki point.
Swift Retreat
As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast Thunder Step without components. At 17th level, the initial cost is reduced to 1 ki point.
Rage of the Hummingbird
Beginning at 17th level, you can surge and strike with an incredible burst of power. As an action costing 3 ki points, you can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
Immediately when you arrive at this space, you release an explosion of thunderous energy. Each creature within 20 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 8d8 thunder damage, be knocked prone, and be deafened for 1 minute on a failed save. The damage is increased by 2d8 for each additional ki point spent.
On a successful save, they take half damage and are deafened only until the end of their next turn, and are not knocked prone. The thunder can be heard from up to 800 feet away.
