Base Class: Monk
Hunger-Aspects are Monks that Drive themselves by bridging the gaps between life and death, depriving themselves of food and feeling until they feel the spiritual presence of The Void inside their bodies. This hunger and emptiness propels them, once unbound, into a feral state of feeding frenzy so profound that it beggars belief. They lose themselves to the hunger, and it cannot be slaked until they tear apart anything and everything, gnawing it down to the bone. To reach this state, Hunger-Aspects must wear a special muzzle and restraints that prevent them from eating or drinking, spending long periods of time in horrid hunger pains. As one can imagine, this is not a path one usually takes willingly as it require an enormous amount of suffering to reach.
Feeding Frenzy
In battle, you remove your Muzzle, releasing yourself into a feeding frenzy. On your turn, you can enter a frenzy as a bonus action.
While Frenzied, you gain the following benefits if you aren’t wearing any armor:
- You have advantage on Constitution and Dexterity checks and saving throws.
- You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
If you are able to cast spells, you can’t cast them or concentrate on them while frenzied.
When frenzied, you cannot distinguish friend from foe. When in combat, you must spend your action finding the nearest combatant to fight, friend or foe. If two creatures are an equal distance, determine which creature will be attacked randomly.
Your frenzy lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven’t attacked a creature since your last turn or taken damage since then. You can also end your frenzy on your turn as a bonus action.
Once you have Frenzied the number of times shown for your Starvation level + 1, you must finish a long rest before you can Frenzy again.
Rat Mother's Vitality
A Hunger-Aspect is given a ceremonial item at the time of their recognition by the Nezumin Jukai Boss.
This magical item is attuned upon being received by the newly appointed aspect. It a black leather muzzle, custom made and enchanted to only work for it's intended user. When worn by the intended wearer, it draws from their suffering, building up a charge as the user starves themselves. The muzzle represses the deadly effects of starvation, keeping it's user alive through the worst of it's effects and grants them eerie strength the longer they go without eating.
For each level of exhaustion gained by starvation, the muzzle will treat that level of exhaustion as (Level of Exhaustion) minus their proficiency bonus, though that level of exhaustion is retained as their Starvation Level. If a creature or effect removes this magic item or its effects on the user, it will immediately begin to suffer the negative effects of their level of exhaustion, and it cannot be repressed by re-equipping the Muzzle. Starvation Levels can be gained again by re-equipping the mask and continuing the fast, with or without current exhaustion levels.
Each level of exhaustion grants a general boon of +1 to damage rolls per Starvation Level, and +1 to Intimidation Checks per Starvation Level. Additionally, You gain advantage on constitution saving throws.
When Removed during a Frenzy, All levels of exhaustion are removed, and a general bonus of your current Starvation Level are applied to your attack rolls, and you gain Damage Reduction Equal to your Starvation Level + your CON Bonus, while retaining your last remaining Starvation Level benefits.
Rat Mother's Sense
You gain Blindsight for 60 feet, for the purposes of detecting through smell and hearing.
You gain Advantage of perception checks using this sense.
Way of Famine
With a martial blow, you are able to manifest the very suffering you've inflicted upon yourself to others.
Making a melee strike, you may declare the expenditure of up to 3 points of Ki per Starvation level. Upon connecting with that strike, your Ki manifests your starvation levels onto the creature you have struck as temporary exhaustion levels. For each 3 points of Ki, you may inflict 1 point of exhaustion from your Starvation Levels, losing them in the process.
This does not decrease your Exhaustion Levels, though as long as you are wearing the Muzzle the effects of exhaustion are still suppressed.
The Temporary exhaustion lasts up to one minute or until the creature it is inflicted upon is knocked unconscious or dies. a curse removal spell can dispel the effect.
Once used, this attack may not be used again until a long rest has been taken.
Hunger Made Flesh
You are hunger. You are fear. You are pain, longing and suffering. You are the flesh of the Rat Mother, come to eat the realm of mortals. Even then, that will not be enough to sate your primordial hunger.
As the highest tier of Hunger-Aspect, you've become an Avatar for everything the Nezumi stand for. As such your body has warped into their perfect thing, an endlessly feeding pit of vicious violence.
After a long rest, you may elect to take a level of Starvation even without a point of exhaustion once per long rest.
You may now Frenzy without removing the Muzzle, or wearing it. You may be in a frenzy state until you end it with a bonus action or are knocked unconscious.
Additionally, if you were to die from exhaustion after losing a frenzy, you may expend your Starvation levels to reduce your exhaustion by 1 per Starvation level.
