Time crystals are sprinkled throughout the multiverse and while they have many uses, some have been able to harness their power in such a way that allows them to become a force of time. In return, these monks have made an agreement to protect these time crystals from forces that attempt to use their powers for evil. 

Monasteries that follow the way of the Time Ward can usually be found directly on the site of such an area. In addition to gaining powers from the crystals, they have also been able to use them in the passing of knowledge. Each crystal can be used to store a memory or information, and this is how much of the teachings are passed down throughout generations. 

Monks of this tradition are expected to be self-sustainable, as well as contribute to the vast body of knowledge. As they mature, they are sent on a pilgrimage (also referred to as "Atta-Talwi"   or in common "On One's Two feet"  in some areas of the multiverse), where they are expected to learn new things and perfect their current knowledge. Mentors follow at a distance to ensure their pupil's growth, and enforce the customs of the monastery; they will not, however, interfere in their pupil's journey or save them should they fall in battle.  

Preservation of Life

By 3rd level your extensive research and training with the Time Sages in one of the sparse Chrono-Athenaeums throughout the multiverse has granted you Proficiency in 2 of the following: History, Religion, Nature, Medicine, or Arcana.

Additionally, your dedication has been rewarded with the ability to keep your own life safe. Before rolling a death saving throw you may choose to spend 1 ki point to gain advantage on one death saving throw. This may be repeated on every death saving throw. 

Choose a Skill

By 3rd level your extensive research and training with the Time Sages in one of the sparse Chrono-Athenaeums throughout the multiverse has granted you Proficiency in 2 of the following: History, Religion, Nature, Medicine, or Arcana.

Witness of the Fourth Dimension

At 6th level your continued pursuit of protecting your gifted cosmic knowledge has allowed you to step into the 4th dimension. 

When you use a flurry of blows you may spend one additional ki point to:

• fold time upon itself allowing you to take a second monk-based bonus action
• slow time around your opponent to lower their AC by your wisdom modifier for your flurry of blows 
• slow time around yourself and then quickly release the stored energy into your flurry of blows. Doing this makes a critical hit a 19 or a 20 for both of your fury of blows.   

Awoken Cosmic Eye

Upon reaching 11th level your extensive training and continued guardianship have released an inner energy deep from within your mind. You now have the benefits of the keen mind feat. Additionally,  upon taking a minute to concentrate, and by spending 1 ki point, a third eye of never-ending cosmos appears on your forehead, allowing you to envision the immediate outcomes of an action up to a minute into the future. 

These visions run you through your own actions and only relays back to you the effects of your individual decisions. 

For example, you may wish to see what happens as you walk over a potentially disarmed trap, or learn how someone responds to a question. 

Keen Mind

You gain the Keen Mind feat.

A Force of Time

By 17th level, you have learned to manipulate the flow of time in ways that most can not comprehend.

Once per long rest, you stop the flow of time. For every round you spend in suspended time you may interact and attack other creatures or their belongings.

You may spend a total of 5 rounds in frozen time. For each round, you will use that number of ki points to maintain concentration on your manipulation of time. Regardless of the number of rounds you freeze time, you will not be able to perform this again until after a long rest.

You are immune to all conditions while time is frozen. 

All conditions are suspended for all creatures while time is frozen.
