Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

To a battlemage barbarian, magic comes just as naturally as their inner rage, as well as the focus required to wield it in battle.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you gain the focus required to cast spells.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the sorcerer spell lit. You learn an additional sorcerer cantrip of your choice at 12th level and another at 18th level.

Spell Slots

The battlemage Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level sorcerer spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the abjuration and evocation spells on the sorcerer spell list.

The Spells Known column of the battlemage Spellcasting table shows when you learn more sorcerer spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be an evocation or transmutation spell of your choice, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your sorcerer spells, since you learn your spells through instinct. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Focussed Fury

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can maintain concentration while in a rage. Additionally, you may cast cantrips while in rage. Dealing damage with a cantrip maintains your rage.

Elemental Mantle

Beginning at 6th level, you can choose a damage type to gain resistance to when you begin a rage. This resistance is lost with the rage.

Elemental Prowess

Beginning at 10th level, your raging attacks deal additional damage. When you make a melee weapon attack while raging, you deal an additional (1d8) bonus damage of the type of your Elemental Mantle.

The damage of Elemental Prowess increases to (2d8) when you reach level 18.

Steel Focus

Starting at 14th level, while you are raging, you may cast spells. Dealing damage with a spell maintains your rage. In conjunction, you have advantage on concentration checks during a rage.
